Free File Recovery?!!!

Hey all, have a problem with a file, it wont open, Microsoft PowerPoint annoyingly doesn't say how to fix the problem or why it wont open, just says, cant open this presentation.

This is a students work and he hasn't backed up... grr...
So, i'm wondering if any of you KNOW of any free and good software that can attempt to fix a supposedly currupt file...

Nice try m8 :) but already tried it and its a demo/shareware, therefore wont do it properly unless paid.

I use something called System Mechanic
