My new system.

just upgraded my computer, seeing as it wouldn't play doom 3 or any game for that matter with my new geforce FX card installed.

I now have an ASUS P4P800-E deluxe motherboard with P4 3ghz cpu and 512 DDRRAM.

I'll be bringing my old bits and pieces to the lan for those interested in aquiring them.

pc266 M810LR motherboard.
1GB ram in 2x512 SDRAM chips
maybe a geforce 2 64mb pro agp card
hurcules sound card (It depends on what the inbuilt sound card is like)


Im not looking forward to upgrading it all though as i here win2000 doesn't like motherboard changes. Ergh no system till i reinstall windows would suck.

Painful though it may be, I always re-install after a big upgrade. I've never had any OS that's really been happy about a mobo change  

Get it done and everything is brand spanking new though

all installed now with xp, few been years trying to get that installed, and doom 3 is working great

I can get windows installed and everything working ok again in less than an hour usually.

I format every time I upgrade something significant, and also roughly every 6 months to keep my system quick and smooth.

I use powerquest drive image with regular backups. Everything restored just the way it was in about 40 mins and I mean everything

Well I do it because I find that even when you keep tabs of what you're installing, Windows still somehow manages to fill itself with rubbish and start to slow down eventually.

So formatting is the best way to stop it.  I have everything backed up that I need, so doesn't take too long.  Just really need a DVD-RW drive now.

well i've repartioned my hard disk to two disks so i dont have to worry about backing up my data every time i need to reinstall.

Well after getting everything working i find out that the Asus p4p800 deluxe motherboard onboard sound card is plagued with problems. Forums around the world all say the same thing, nice motherboard but the AC97 sound card sucks. Luckily i have a pci sound card. Shame really as the onboard supports lots of cool sound features.

Regardless Doom 3 rocks (when the sound doesn't cut out)

Im also experiencing problems with CZ servers. Keep getting kicked. Very very annnoying.
