Just found this, will give it a go. It's very powerful.

I'll report back what I think.

Cake: Four large eggs. One cup semi-sweet chocolate chips. Three/four cups butter or margarine. One and two third cups granulated sugar. Two cups all purpose flour. Fish shaped ethyl benzene. Twelve medium geosynthetic membranes. Three tablespoons rhubarb, on fire.

TeaLeaf

I use it already, but not as a standalone product.  It is embedded in adsubtract and that package has worked pretty well for me for a few years now.  - I'd be interested in your feedback on its performance as a standalone......

seems good so far. Blocking all kinds of nasty bandwidth sucking ads.

almost forgot, if you have any questions about it or need any tech help then I'd recommend the peeps who inhabit the news.grc.com newsgroups.  Proxomitron comes up  in discussion quite a lot, so there's a good archive of stuff to search through for info if you need it.

Dr Sadako

I got a great pop-up ad killer. I can mail it to you if you are interested.

Of course you could switch to Mozilla with it's own built in pop up killer......and get a great web browser as well

OOhh while we're on the subject,  Monsieur Gandy, i edited my hosts file with that spangly list you posted a while ago.  But now i wanna add another site to block, but the thing is when the site comes up it's just an IP and not a domain name, its http://62.146.220.26/en/.  It wont resolve to a hostname, so therefore i think i cant add it to the hosts file, unless anyone (Gandy, my hero) knows diffrent.

Gandalf

Use a real firewall, then block the IP. Zonealarm is free, and there are serveral others out there.

The hosts files purpose was originally intended for small networks that did not have DNS servers but still wanted to use names instead of IP addresses.

So, if all you have is an IP then you are out of luck.
