Excuse my ignorance, but why has there been no mention of Bangladesh. They must have been hit hard. They flood every year, this must have devasted them? Or were they lucky, or am I stupid?

GFK's picture shows that the wave was predominatley an east west event, so very littlle of it's force was directed to the north or south. THIS LINK  shows a flash animation of what happened. News channels showing pictures of consentric rings radiating out from the epicentre of the quake are misleading. The epicentre was in fact a 1500 mile long strip running north south along the fault line. Bangladesh and Burma weren't effected because there simply was no wave heading their way. Tht'as not entirely true as there was a small impact which sadly killed some people, nut nothing on the scale of coastlines to the east and west of the quake.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.
