Whenever a group of people get together to form a 'party' (or team) then you need to have a strategy for how to deal with the monsters in the most effective way to maximise the Experience points benefits for the team members (to allow them to level up as quickly as possible) and to minimise your own team's damage incurred and attrition rates.  So, as a KO noob, this is my belief as to what should happen when we get together as a team on the X2 server.  Please feel free to comment or correct me!

The maximum number of points comes from killing a beast that is far stronger than any of you individually, so pick your target carefully as it will make the difference between gaining maybe 100 experience points per kill and gaining several thousand experience points per kill (as we were doing last night when attacking Death Knights).  The latter is clearly far more effective.

You should use the skills amongst theteam members effectively, otherwise skill mismatches occur and characters will get killed!  So don't expect a Priest or a Mage to be good a close quarters combat with a Death Knight or a Smilodon (sorry Smilo) because we'll die!
  • ANY team needs a spread of skills and should ideally consist of Warriors. Priests, Mages and Rogues.
  • Mages are good at attacking from a distance, so let them attack a selected enemy of appropriate difficulty and entice them into range of the other other races.
  • Let ONE MAGE ONLY choose the enemy to be attacked, otherwise you'll find a group of Smilodons or Death Knights charging into you simultaneously and wiping your whole team out.
  • When the Designated Mage has selected and fired upon a single target they should retreat back into the pack.  As the enemy approaches it should be engaged by Warriors and then Rogues as these races have good armour, strength and will not be killed by a single blow.  The warriors and rogues should therefore be standing between the selected enemy and the Mages/Priests - get out there in the front and sacrifice yourself ;)
  • The enemy usually attacks the person who attacked them, BUT it will stop and engage in close quarter combat with Warriors or Rogues if they then attack.  This is the purpose of the Warriors and Rogues, to engage the enemy when he is close to stop them attacking the Mage who first fired upon him.
  • This tactic allows ALL of the Mages to then continue to cast spells on the Monster from afar (hence not suffering any damage) and together the close quarter combat damage and the spells damage will kill the monster.
  • Most important of all are the Priests.  They should at all times remain with the Mages to heal them and strengthen them.
  • The Priests should also be trying to heal and strengthen the Warriors and Rogues who are getting pounded by the enemy at close quarters.  For thsi reason, Warriors and Rogues should NOT ENGAGE an enemy to far away from the team.  If they engage too far from the party then they will be out of range of the Priests who will then be unable to heal them without leaving the protective safety of the Mages.
  • When the enemy is killed it is the responsibility of the Warriors and Rogues to loot the body for the cash and articles.  They're stood right next to them, so it makes sense!
  • When an enemy has been killed then regroup and check your health status asking for healing as necessary.  When the group is ready and fit to go into battle again theDesignated Mage should then attack a new target from afar.  the process then repeats.
If you have a couple of Priests, 2 or 3 Mages and 2 or 3 Warriors/Rogues then you can take on and defeat some truly powerful enemies.  The experience points given for such wins are immense.  However the single most important instruction is this:
  • Join the Teamspeak server!
If you are not on the teamspeak server then you cannot hear someone telling you that an enemy is inbound, you cannot call for help, you cannot be told that an enemy spawned right behind you, you cannot easily call for a teleport or a Priest.  get your comms working, use them wisely andlevel up quickly!

The link to the .my KO site actually gives a far more detailed analysis of the best wayto score points, but the above worked for us really well last night.  Duvel (Priest) and I were on the TS server (nobody else was) and we were really able to do well together, albeit with having to laboriously type instructions to the Warriors/Rogues!

The TCS motto holds true for KO - For best results, WORK AS A TEAM!

make sure you have the +20db boost box ticked for your microphone (it'll be an option somehwere in your sound settings.

Have you set your voice activation control high enough? Mone is set to about 65% of max.
Have you ran the local test within the TeamSpeak Client to see what you can hear?

Both the above options are found in "Settings" then "Sound Input/Output Settings" - there's a button at the bottom to let you test your setup (Activate local test mode).

PTT rather than VOX is my preference. Can suffer chop when you don't talk loud enough.

Check what you have set as default input device in your sound configs. It might be set to Aux instead of Mic (or in my case I have Mic1 and Mic2 cause I have an Audigy with a breakout box)

What TL said:  8)
Also the people with a low level should stand a bit further away from the party because it seems to me that the enemy goes for them first.

Also, first warriors and then the people who shoot from far (like people with mage or people with bows).
Behind them the priests and so to heal.

And the most important thing: stay in the neighbourhood for healing!

The bad thing is that sometimes lagkills ocure... <_<

For the rest, I'm almost lvl 33 Priest now. This week I'm a bit busy but maybe it would be something if people can use other peoples character so if you need a healer you can take mine? What do you reccon?
