Ok question for you ... :o

Is it ok in TCS to block up choke points using the barrels... let me explane

Playing as CT on Aztec (example) If you cover the top site its possible to shoot the barrels towards the double doors. If you can do it in time they cause all sorts of trouble to late rushing T's coming through the door. Another is long A on dust 2

Is it valid or cheap or both ?????

I like it and think it opens up some aspects of the game that could make it more interesting.....thoughts ???
It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shakes, the shakes become a warning. It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion

"IF" You can get there quickly enough to faff about shooting barrels into position good luck to you. Seems fair to me. Watch your back while doing it is all.

It seems a fair idea. Moving barrels isn't a map flaw and it's reasonable to expect the T's to barracade themselves into certain areas. So blocking doorways etc. sounds fair.

On the other hand it might well be fair but it might also unbalance map and destroy the game flow. Until it's tried I think it's too hard to say.

Of course if Valve had thought this aspect through properly they would have allowed players to actually pick stuff up by hand or at least push the barrels properly. Shooting them into place seems a bit daft.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

I reckon it's fair game :) If you have the time and inclination to move objects around into choke points then great. It's part of the move to more "realism" in games, an environment you can alter slightly, hopefully to your advantage! It would be nice if you could pick stuff up in CSS (holstering your gun to do so of course!) because the current bumping into things is frustrating. I think moving things strategically into place can never be said to possibly disrupt the game flow, but it does rely on map-designers to think more carefully about placing movable objects in their maps! Forcing players to pile up stuff to gain acess to the roofs and ledges, for example, could be a valid design objective for a map. It'd open up a whole new type of gameplay. :D

What is 'game flow'? If one side get slaughtered while messing about with scenery and I'm on the other side, I'd call that pretty good 'game flow'   8)

I don't see a problem with it. Could be a bit of a laugh TBH but 1 well placed grenade should clear most of the barrels.

I've seen the same tactic used in office with the filing cabinets in the hallway and chairs in the projection room. The cabinets certainly stop CT rush into hallway.

ALL the chairs were piled at the doors of the projection room, bloody impossible to get past them without a grenade to clear em.

Though you'd have to watch out for exploits - I accidentally knocked over a bin making it impossible to defuse a bomb (without blasting the bin away) on Tides the other day.

I wouldn't have minded, but I was the CT trying to defuse ^^
