I'm just asking if you guys consider it non PCS play to bunk people up to these specific T camping spots on assault.

The first one is a two man bunk up on the red crates on the right of the front entrance onto one of the lights, it is a good vantage point for taking out people at the front and back entrance, and people dont usually look up there...

Second one is in the hossies room... If you climb up onto the hossies at the back of the room and get a bunk up onto the light on the back wall.

Just wondering if you guys consider that "legit" or not...

Peace,

Perfectly legit.

Your job as Terrorists on cs_assault is to guard the hostages. If you can do that better by being sneaky then so be it. The advantage of being in an unusual position will soon evaporate though. It may work once but then the CTs will be looking for it.

Understandable. I try never to use the same position twice in a row, or for that matter twice in a day really on nearly any map unless it is a known strategic strong point (such as end of open corridor leading to T base on Italy).

Just the once or twice is good enough for me... :P

Be sneaky yes, but do not take advantage of map flaws.  There's another thread ehre that is related to 'boosts':

Actually I think that sitting on top of the hostages shouldn't be allowed. It is not even remotely likely to happen in real life.

Regarding camping the hostage room. On a map like assault or drugwars the entire T team could employ this tactic and these maps would be SOOOO fun to play. I think that we should consider a difference between legit and good sportmanship. On assault and drugwars the maps are T biased already from start. Ts do not need to camp the hostage room to win. A few nights ago on assault (9 T vs 8 CT ) 2 Ts sat in the hostage room for the entire round and many rounds in a row. Might add that the Ts were 5 rounds up. I can see that it is legit but I think it is totally cheese.

If it was the last T against a few CTs then of course it would be ok to retreat into the hostage room. But doing it from round start to round end just sucks imho.

That's a fair point and if I was on the server at that time I probably would have commented.

It gets complicated though when you consider this issue on other maps.

A night or so ago I was a T on Italy. We were outnumbered about two to one (which is no problem on Italy), but then were subject to some quality sniping and a big rush that wiped us out.
So next round we all hid in the house and didn't go near the windows. This forced the CT's to dump thier Scouts and rush us with pistols. As it happened we still lost.
As the whole intenet of camping was tactical in this case, I don't think  it wouldn't be open to the fair criticism made against the drugwar campers?

I guess, as has been commented here, that you just have to think "Is this sportsmanlike? Is this PCS?" As long as the intent is right then there is no real problem.  If someone does it wrong but believes they were doing it right, so to speak, then a word from an admin would suffice.

If someone was knowingly abusing the spirit of PCS then obvioulsy they should be disemboweled

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

Guilty as Charged as a camper on Assault Sadako and apologies if it caused offence...........

.......However (had to be one right?!!) in mitigation and notwithstanding the scores as they were I believe the following to be truths;

1/   At commencement of game T's was a popular choice and I believe outnumbered the CT's by at least three

2/    Having gone into something like a 4-0 lead the T's were becoming pegged back as more players joined the CT team

3/    The majority of kills on the T team were made by the top three players

4/    At the point you mentioned the CT's had won at least three consecutive rounds and funds were low on the T team

5/    In each of the three previous rounds a minimum of three CT's were alive and well and on 100% health

6/    My personal score was 1-10

In telling you this I do not in any way excuse camping in the Hossie room but it seems that in terms of player skills the T team were quite frankly not as good as the CT's (no offence to the players who WERE scoring the frags on the T team) and as the numbers levelled the result of each round was becoming inevitable!!.....which isn't necessarily a nice place to be.

On a personal level I would never be regarded as one of the "better" players who frequent the server and added to that I have over the last month only managed to finish in the top half of the scoreboard once!!

I don't wish to make excuses for camping in the Hossie room but sometimes, when you know the inevitable, somewhere to hide is far preferable to facing the likes of you or Frenzy in an open battleground armed with only a Deagle and no armour!!, and may, if you are extremely lucky, result in a frag and perhaps even a round win for "the team"

I understand your frustration and would perhaps feel the same way if I were anywhere as good as you and several others in dMw, but please, do try and understand that when your'e up to your TANGO in Crocodiles a safe haven is very comforting......if only for a little while!!

There were no intent in framing anyone just showing that legit sometimes can go really bad in combination PCS and a certain map which could result in a very boring and static map. Drugwar would be totally lame if the entire T team camped the two hostage rooms in the basement with say 5 Ts in each room. Combine that with that is legit to spam the walls as much as you like (and that you have a buy zones in both rooms). If done the map would be thrown out of the rotation immediately.

I have seen such scenarios on N42 which resulted in when certain maps came up ppl started to drop just because they knew what how the map played. It is sad to see a server with more than 20 ppl drop to less than 6 in only 2-3 minutes. Would hate to see that happen on MH just because we hadn't discussed the problem.

No hard feelings what so ever.
