I know what you mean but I think it gets better as it goes along. It gets really good at the end left me wanting to read the next book.

Counter-Strike / Map Callout Names!
August 29, 2015, 12:57:12 PM
Quote from: Ninja_Freak;403055tried to install but couldn't find the folder being referred to.. :(

Any help appreciated.

My path is F:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\resource\overviews

Baring in mind you probably have a different drive letter, normally C: by default.

More likely it starts as "C:\Program Files\Steam...." or "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam...."

Might even be other differences, but probably not? But it all depends on where you installed steam if you didn't chose the default location!

So firstly find your steam folder. Then games are always installed in the 'SteamApps\Common' folder. And don't do the mistake I made when looking for something once, that theres actually that 'csgo' folder within the 'Counter-Strike Global Offensive' folder.

And the 'overviews' folder should be at the end of that path, you shouldn't have to create it yourself as all the other mini-map overlays are there for the common maps (At least they seem to be for me). But correct me if I'm wrong! If it isn't there though at that exact location, try creating it yourself, won't do any harm.
So each map has a .dds and .txt - So for example you will already see maps there, or paste in your own files that look like:
cs_italy.txt
cs_italy_radar.dds
de_dust2.txt
de_dust2_radar.dds

and so on...

Rambly, but I hope that helps!

Edit: Blunt beat me to it since he didn't ramble away :P

Counter-Strike / CS:GO Tips and Advice Exchange.

Lets exchange tips and advice to help each other get better at CS:GO!

I think my number 1 piece of advice would always be stay quiet! :P
Especially towards the end of the round when there are less players around, making even the slightest sound can give away almost your exact position to another player! So always walk when trying to be quiet. But lots of other things can let others hear you as well, including reloading, getting your knife out, picking up weapons or the bomb.

Another tip that now springs to mind is don't always reload straight away, partially for the reason above, as they can hear you and it's normally better to have less bullets in your clip than to reload and give away your position. It normally only takes 3 bullets to kill someone after all! And I've lost count of the amount of times I've killed someone and instantly reloaded, just for another player to come around the corner and kill me in the act!

To add to that, if you are low on bullets and someone is close, it is often better and quicker to switch to the pistol than to wait for the reload.

One thing I see people do now and again is crouch-move around a corner. It's not a very good idea to do this as you move around the corner so slow, your knee and gun stick out and the enemy sees you way before you see them, resulting in death.

And I'll leave it at that for now and leave it open for others to join in, I will look forward to hearing other peoples opinions and tips :D

Counter-Strike / Map Callout Names!
August 28, 2015, 07:11:55 PM
I thought it would be a good idea to share mini-maps that show the names of call out spots on various maps. The idea came about because a certain person thought we were just making up some of these ludicrous names, as if we'd do that! :P

You can actually replace the in-game mini-map/radar too, so it actually dispays the names while playing, as you can see in this link. It is not considered cheating (No VAC ban), and it is simple. All you have to do is put the premade files (a .dds file which is the map image, and a txt file which sets coordinates etc) into your "CS:GO /resource/overview" folder.
The link has nothing to do with me by the way, I take no credit for it. But if there is enough interest in these custom mini-maps then Pesteh has kindly offered to make some for any missing or custom maps. Including de_astute which is a custom map recently added to the server, I believe made by a DMW member (sorry I'm not exactly sure who!).

Anyway below you can find some maps by a guy called Froosh, which shows most of the common names (From this link). I have made them into spoilers (so just click to reveal them) as they are quite big. And bear in mind it might not have all the names, and sometimes they have more than one name!
And feel free to join in and post more maps if you find them, and also add any other names! :)

Hello and welcome! :D

I'm such a big fan of the souls series but don't own a PS4, jealous of Bloodborne! Played my friends version a little though, it's such a good game!

I'm about half way through the first book (Name of the Wind) and really enjoying it!

My brother and my best friend both recommended it to me and they both love the series so far. I think the 3rd book is not too far away from being released.
