hi chaps..  just like to make mention:-

1. both NT and BoD caught N3co independantly.. it wasnt till we checked the logs on the same morning that we banned the guys.

2. NT's ban was done via HLGuard.  BoD's was done by using a cvar checker - which looks for something that low recoil scripts use.{btw we caught another peep as well, but not a reg.}  

End result is correct and as he was picked up on 2 diff. servers over the course of a weekend.

Result for us = Perm ban.

quick question... how does the price of a opteron relate to a xeon server..  all the searching i have done  comes back with the opterons being 50-70% more expensive..  or am i looking in the wrong place..

hope you are all keeping well....  well basically its time to upgrade the server  and tbh i dont know why i didnt post in here before (well  ure the best/most techie helpful bunch out here)..

i have been looking at a dell 1850 with dual xeon 3. with 2mb cache..1mb ram (i know i know.. just dell ram seems expensive so im hoping to purchase that else where).. (comes with 3y next day support)

Anyway.. the above deal will set me back about £1100..   is this a good deal to run game servers on..  or are there other possible solutions which would be better suited..

your opinion as allways is well respected..

thanks guys.. i beilve Badaim is switching to another isp..

i believe he has the standard aol setup/package with a usb modem and using a bt phone line..

he phoned AOL yesterday and they said they coudnt explain why he was getting these pings and said there was nothing more they could do.  I asked badaim to contact BT, but again they said they could offer no assistance.. (although i think they are sending him out a replacement usb modem)

lastly i asked Badaim to conatct AOl again and ask them to pass a support ticket to BT to get the line checked out, but they refused !! (i know they can do this as i have asked for it before without any issues).

ok guys just a quick one, i want some feedback to try and solve badaims ping issues.

Badaim's ping to cs server (not just bod's) is avg. around the 50-60 mark.. but wots more surprising is that he ahs a 2mb aol connection(please no flaming about aol),

i did some test with him yesterday and the only thing i could see wrong with his setup is that when he runs a tracert to any ip on the net his first HOP/POP is taking more and 30ms..(sometimes 70ms) to me thats just crazy.. and then it only takes him another 6-8ms to get to his target server.

any of you guys got any ideas.. weve had a look at his pc and all looks fine.. ie no spyware etc. hes using a usb modem(i used one before i got a rounter and i didnt take that long).

please post in here.. especially if u work for a isp or have experience in this sort of subject..

Just after some of ure expertise....

im looking towards the new year and a  new deal for our clan server...   jolt runs out on 15th jan.. and kz any day now...

i reakon we would have about £50-55 per month to spend and would really like your views on what we would be best doing...

i'd prefer a dedicated box,  are there any companies you now of that allow us to rent a box and rack space..  even if its slightly over our budget...

Another option open to us.. is Teeny Warrior has a HP netserver l200  or something like that..  which should be able to runa  few game servers from.. but its a big box ..

or rebuild my compaq desktop pc (p4 1800 512) and stick it in a co-hosting company..(atm its sat in a company in maindedhead.. but pings are generally about 10-15ms higher than london)..

any views suggestions would be great..

Just like to say that in my 14 months of running a cs/cz server - i have never come a cross such a friendly , fun and generally brill clan such as ureselfs..

Its been a real treat having you guys on server - thanks !!!

As ive seen in some posts , maybe we could organise a small match..  although we'd probabbly get are arses wopped - it should still be fun..
