Nobody has anything to say about this?

I'm so bored right now I decided to spam something

Compared to the normal direction, I think this is harder this way. There are some fairly tricky corners. I also think this track need maybe little bit more nut attitude or crazy look in eyes to make nice times. For example...

1) T1. It starts to go downhill about where the brake point is. Before that you cannot see the apex. In downhill it is easier to lock the rear brakes. I have often habit to brake little too late.

2) the famo...notorious Aston chicane after the T1. Imho, it is much harder this direction. First down and then up. When you go up to the hill top, the car gets lighter and you get less grip than normally. To make matter worse you cannot see the corner well which you have to take at the same time. I try to take the first corner at the bottom as straight as possible (w/o turning left much), so that the top corner is as easy as possible. I think this is one of those places you have to drive bit like a lunatic and just trust your car. Hard to mark any points for your drive line and I drive it by feeling.

3) the left turn after the chicane. You have to take it fast or you lose time in the long (and fastest) straight. It goes easily wide. Not so hard as many others but important.

4) The left-right combo at the end of the straight. Again I say try to ignore the left turn part making it as straight as possible, but without cutting the dirt so that your tyres get dirty, because you need all the grip in the right turn part.

5) just after the 2nd split there is a left hander. I've noticed that if you don't take it close to the left side it goes wide very easily. I think it is tilted/cambered more to left in the inside and that why easier. I turn it left bit earlier and kind of slide sideway bit into the corner.

6) The hairpin (before the 3rd and last split). This is annoying. If the other corners can be fun while being tricky, this is just unnatural. There is this longish fast left hander and immediately after that tight 135 degree hairpin. My tip is to try make the car go straight some distance before the right hand hairpin. Even if it means you have to take the left hander bit slower. If you go first fast left and then brake and turn right, it is no miracle you lose control. By going straight for a short while helps to get the car back to better balance before the right corner.

I think those are the 6 noteworthy places and how I take them. I'm not saying I know best how to drive them. Just trying to cure my boredom to write something

Thread now officially open for flaming :boxing:

Right, now where are my matches? :norty: Seriously, a very good report. For your information the famo..notorious chicane is refered to in dMr circles as 'Eau sh*t!' after Eau rouge at Spa. :)

:lmfao: So that's how it's done! I'll try it and see how I get on. You realise that Ventrilo will be full of 'crazy look in the eyes' jokes?
If that's your idea of spamming, then keep 'em coming. :thumbsup2:

The 1 hour long race is now over... and of course the damn statistics system was broken :sideways:

I had fun racing with Sander and I would have liked to see how the gap changed during the race.

I probably had higher tyre pressure than Sander and I had little problems for the first laps to get tyres working. Sander started well and after few laps Sander managed to overtake me. Some great close racing for few laps until I finally managed to find room and overtake Sander.

It continued this way to 30min mark. Sander pitted first and pitted 1 lap later. My crew changed both of my front tyres and when I drove back to track Sander just managed to get back to lead. Again some close racing for several laps before Sander made a small mistake (iirc) I managed to slip back to the 1st place.

I never managed to drop Sander far and at least in slow corners I could see him close. So there was no room for errors and it kept me on my toes for rest of the race.

All I can say is 'Sorry for the complete balls up of the start' A stressful race for me what with sulky and LameDuck having a 'coming together', which sounds nice but ended with high velocity dummy spitting! :lmfao: After collecting sulky, who was parked broadside on, the rest of my race was without incident for the next 45 minutes and  then a succession of people started to lap me. (nice to see you guys) Still, at least I finished this one!

JAS and me had a good few laps with me pressing him from behind (steady now). We were putting in fairly constant 2.25 laps which was helping keep the tyres from glowing too brightly. We both pitted just after the 30min mark but, whereas I had an almost instant pitstop, JAS had ordered the full service with interior and exterior valet which meant we never got to resume our battle which was a great pity. In fact for the whole of the 2nd half of the race I was out on my own with just occasional glimpses of Rocket Ronnie ahead but as he still had to pit there was no racing to be had there either. I swear that at this stage I was doing whole laps on autopilot without really thinking about it! Towards the end I started to race the clock to try to get the adrenaline going and was pleased to see my first 2.22 of the week.

Next time I think I'm going to slow down and wait for someone to catch up so that I can have a race. Just remember to do the same for me :flirty:

I was too tired to join the race. I fell asleep myself when I was putting my son to bed 1.5h before the race start. How did your tires work? Mine had been glowing red already on those 20 races earlier the week.

I had to nurse them a bit but they weren't too bad. I seem to remember that someone's (Sander?) tyre exploded as he crossed the finish line

It turned out they were hottest maybe around laps 6-10, but as the time passed, the rubber layer got thinner and so they couldn't keep the heat up so well. Around half way around laps 12-14 there wasn't so much heat problem.

When I pitted I changed my front tyres, so then I had again the same problem with them c 6 laps later. There was never any heat or wear up problems with the rear tyres. Only in the beginning it took longer to make the rear heat up properly. This might not have been so for everybody as my pressures could have been bit higher.

I had set my strategy so that I pit around 30 min and change any tyres which have weared more than 40%. In the pre race tyre test they changed only the front left, but in the race they changed both front tyres. My estimate is that they must have been 40-45% weared, so if somebody who didn't change them got a puncture it is no miracle.

Tyres? Heat? Wear?

Tyres?

Yes, you know those 4 round things at the side of a car.

Heat?

mmm...you know sauna?

wear?

The stuff you normally put on in the morning. No, I do not mean the radio.
