OK guys i have permission to lead close quarters combat [CQC] sessions this wont be a long distance tank raid or artillery barrage blitzkrieg type affair im afraid it will be a little different.
We're planning on team/teams covering for themselves and each other dependent on squad size and mission types, teamwork will be essential with feedback needed from all players relayed to Team Leader [TL] for approval.
Mission wise we're looking at urban larger scale maps of which there are few in OA so mission choice may be limited to smaller scale towns at the moment. If anyone can suggest good urban missions please do? It will mean street by street fighting to gain objectives or to clear towns with lots of teamwork to make this happen.
For support i was thinking that a sniper and portable mortars would be good and a training night could be arranged this week if anyone needs to know how to use the portable mortar, they are devastating when used correctly.
Im not sure how you will all feel about this night but some feedback would be appreciated and im available weds/thurs/fri normally, please leave your view and fave night for this sort of tomfoolery below :D

Tonight is private server night and I'd love to give this a run through then if people agree. To be honest I think we're all finding Insurgency and Stonecold(?) need this form of play style for us to be successful. Maybe we could pay specific attention tonight to playing as a squad with dedicated sniper support.

On that point I wonder whether it might be an idea to decide on main weapons as well. I know the TWS scoped rifles are popular as they give a WHOT view that makes enemy soldiers stand out very clearly. Maybe this scope is a bit too powerful and not really something a grunt would carry. I am always tempted to grab a TWS rifle but then feel guilty as I find it too easy to spot and kill enemies. It feels like I'm cheating a bit  We could limit long ranged scoped rifles and the TWS scopes to our dedicated sniper and ask the 'troops' to carry the Mk17 EGLM RCO or similar. In this way the sniper can spot for us and mark enemy armour etc. as well as take out targets?

Also I wonder about the load out for medics. I often play medic and find smoke grenades to be very useful and easier to place than the smoke fired from the rifle grenade launcher. However if I also carry an AT launcher with a missile I find that I'm down to four clips and no smoke grenades. I'm wondering if, when we call for all to carry a launcher, the medic takes a back pack and adds more smoke plus extra M17 mags (another reason to agree on a standard infantry rifle. I notice that on Stonecold some players run out of ammo and are then having to use MK47's etc they find lying around. More ammo from the medic might be an idea. This means no launcher for the medic though?

One way to do it is to change the rules of engagment,  so you can not shoot on anyone over 400m.  This is done by telling the squad and making them keep to it.

I dont know how logik wants to run this,  I am sure it will be a good laugh.  But I dont think it will be tonight as logik is likely not free he mainly plays wed/thursday/friday night from his posts.

I will be around to admin if I am needed.  On TS as well

I can't make it tonight, I'm sure you'll manage to cope without me though :)

The TWS scopes are powerful, but the narrow FOV can be a serious disadvantage at close range.

Seems like a fair compromise to me.

i thought the assault on the 2nd town the other night was good as we split into 2 teams and worked our way in covering each other as we went. So i would love to do another infantry only tonight

Fair point I guess, we could have a bash tonight as well as get something going later in the week. It's all good for me.

If anyone is around tonight who wants to try there hand at portable mortar training i will be around, any admin available for a hand?,also anyone else who is familiar with this mortar system would be a great help?

Seems we had a bit of a group on for a regular session tonight. Give another shout for a night to do the mortar thing and I'll try to get on as I'm keen to have a go. Beats handing out sticking plasters and insect repellent.
