I dont think so you regain your crosshair much quicker if you are crouched. Other wise shooting will walking/standing will be less accurate plus also you are more of a target.

Maybe you will regain your crosshair quicker if you come from running or jumping and go into crouching position, but there are no difference in bonus if your crouch/walk/stand with this weapon.

Guess a matter of your own style of gameplay  ;)

any knife info would be good!
Left or right, crosshairs at head or above.
Always aim at the head in a knife fight! You can kill an un-helmeted player in one strike with a secondary-attack headshot! And 3 or 4 primary attack's to the head will do just as well!

If you're sure of your aim use the secondary knife attack once within range (not before you're in range, a very common mistake!) Later on into rounds once the opposition is likely to already be damaged 2ndary is the better route as you're more likely to get a 1-hit kill.

However, if you're not confident about being able to strike your opponent properly with the secondary attack, then use the primary attack, but aim for the head. I've ended 2nd in a 1on1 knives competition and the final guy was getting me with both methods. primary strikes to your head shift your aim so you then miss and they can strike you again and again. Highly annoying ;)

The basic tactic is to jump in between your opponents knife srtikes and stab them in the head, then get back out of the way again if they're also on knives, but stay in close until they are dead during normal match play.

Ta gents. As for shooting, I always suggest 'Shoot them in the FACE'

I have been studying how people aim and shoot lately. I will share my findings here.

First where to aim.
I have done this and I have definitely increased the number of kills I get. The number of HS have doubled. Although I think "headhight" should be described as throat/neck i.e. upper torso to the center of the head. If you are e.g. planning to go up a set of stairs start aiming at the top of the stairs asap i.e. place your aim where you expect your enemy.
Practice to keep your crosshairs up. It took me some time to learn to keep the crosshair in level.

If you know you have an enemy around a corner start shoting before you turn that corner. Shoot where you think he will be. If you don't know for sure take an educated guess. Where would you stand if you where there? That will definitely give you some edge.

Full auto in close combat is sometimes more effective than accurate burst fire. Combine it with a charge forward instead of a sideways strafe to get full effect.

After this tournament I feel the need to bump this topic and especially focus on

QuoteOh and try and get in the habit of walking around with your gun at head height!

Watching both my own team and through HLTV it is surprising the amount of players that have their crosshair pointed at the ground 5 feet in front of them. Get your crosshairs up and you will reduce reaction time and increase the chance of getting a headshot.

I find keeping my crosshair up a chore but feel it will be worth it in the end as sadako has above enlightened us that it is! I do agree very strongly about full auto in close combat. This is a very good tactic and i have noticed this is how good close combat players get there line up kills or their one on one scramble to see who lives. I have never thought of the idea of shooting before you go round a corner but that seems in principle a good idea as it gives you the advantage of getting him rather than him getting u. This has been the case many times with ppl such as sadako vs myself. My palms sweating in fear as i know of his reputation.  Then i hear a run or a movement and i know where he is the joy is immense. Bang he gets me from behind... as usual - know what i mean?

Cs is a sport and it is hard to get your skills right but i feel the full auto and more accurate bursts do work. I hope my ideas r helpful.

A good way to practice keeping you x-hairs up around head hight is when following your team out of spawn aim at there heads as you run behind them, it doesnt matter what you've got in your hand, knife/nade or gun, you'll still have x-hairs.

Worth a try, it's one thing that helped stop me looking down all the time.

As for shooting before you see someone, this is still something I can't personally get the hang off, which leads me to getting killed a bit (usually on the end of Duvel flying round the corner before I can react)

DuVeL

4 Long range and aim: I allways aim under the chin (torso/neck). I'm still trying to get my long range shots better. A good map to try this is to be found on the BoDserver, aim_map_m4a1. I can try out both the AK and colt there. That works for me a bit. For the rest, you can practice this shot really good on Aztec by a double doors rush.
About flying around the corner, this is quit easy really, it's all about timing and sound. When for example on dust2, inferno, you should know the time when the other team arives at the other location, for the rest, I play by sound. I can hear people from quit far due to my headset. That's also one of the reasons why I get called a hacker alot on publicservers.

Another tip, keep moving, (this also counts for me) some people shoot and reload on the same spot. In the tourney alot of people got shot by just staying on one spot. If you have a silenced gun and the opponent doesn't know where he got shot from, make sure you keep moving.
