Quote from: Jabbs;272350What's happened to the old humour? Is it the same guy(s) gal(s) writing it?  There has been a few classic moments such as Lister sneezing through a collander to 'steam clean' his ironing :roflmao: but there seems to be too much other stuff - not sure this going back to earth is doing it for me either.
Series 1-6 were written by Rob Grant and Doug Naylor and are brilliant.

Series 7, Rob Grant left for pastures new and left Doug Naylor to write them, this is where you start seeing recycled jokes appear from the first 6 series and the characters persona's change slightly, not much, but just enough to make you realise that this isn't the same, cue the addition of Cachansky (who is no longer played by Clare Grogan) and the departure of Rimmer.

Series 8, Doug Naylor brings the rest of the Red Dwarf crew back to life, except for the lack of any of the characters we know about from the first 6 series, with the exception of the captain. Rimmer is alive again. None of the original storyline remains.

Series 9, the missing series mentioned in the special..... Basically, Doug Naylors home made "get out of jail free" card for reseting all the characters back to their Series 6 persona's for this special and answering any difficult questions that might arise. In this series there has obviously been something that killed off all the crew again, managed to return them to the correct dimension after they escaped to a parallel one at the end of series 8, reconstructed the "Small Rouge One" back to its original appearance and killed Rimmer again so he's back to a hologram.

Easter Special - Doug Naylor again.

Who knows, maybe if Doug had left and ob had remained it may still gone down hill, but Rob definately took the spark with him when he left.

Oh, and its "Big Suze", not "Big Sue". :narnar:

I came into this world with nothing,
through careful management I\'ve got most of it left.

The whole series is on Netflix, for those who don't have the box set. If you work hard you might get through thr whole series within the months free trial. Then again they seem to be endlessly rotating the whole lot on Dave.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.
