Gh0st Face Killah

The 2 new maps included in the update look rather good and seem to play ok as well. Need to have a proper play rather than with bots though I think.

Okay, you're all making me want to cave in and go buy CZ. Any idea roughly how much downloading I'd need to do after a fresh-from-the-box install before it's ready to go?
After my first distasterous attempt to answer you question I'll have another go.

Yes there is a big download as soon as you transfer CZ into Steam. Smites link explains what happens nicely.

When I did it there was an update to both HL, CZ and CZ Deleted Scenes that took about  10-15 minutes on an ADSL line. There is now the CZ 1.2 update to deal with. I'm not sure how long this all took as I left the PC running and went out while it updated to CZ 1.2. I would guess about 30-40 minutes again on my ADSL line.

Assuming you have ADSL it shouldn't be too much trouble. A dial up or ISDN line will be more of a problem and you might want to install CZ last thing at night so it can do it's thing overnight.

Finally make sure you log out and exit Steam after the updates. Then log back in and you shouldn't get the file mismatch and connect failures that have been reported.

Hope this helps.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

Thanks Smite/Smilo. Hope to see some of you on CZ Tuesday night

DuVeL

Don't download the deleted scenes, it's not worth it. You can allways download it another time if you have absolutely nothing to do (read: work).

One final point. I noticed several copies of CZ in a second hand games shop called CEX in my local high street. As far as I am aware if you 'delete local content' you can unregister the game with Steam and sell it on to someone else if you ever choose to uninstall it . (I may be very wrong here?).

Assuming I'm right it would probably be better to buy the game retail rather than download it through Steam. You also get a nice manual telling you how to play CS ;) as well as an original disk, which is comforting to have.
