I was listening to a rock song with a slight country tinge when I watched this. Seemed like an dance that would go well. What you on earth is it? Jewish men doing some sort of religious dance? Anyone around of that faith could explain?

Well this page says it's a Sufi Muslim dance: http://www.sickchirpse.com/hypnotic-sufi-muslim-circle-mosh-pit-video/ plus there are a few other examples of interesting communal dancing. They must be pretty fit to do this for 40 minutes.

This is interesting stuff.

Reminds me of the swim meet at the last LAN :)

Ok update: one Turkish guy at work told me this is quite a modern thing and is as a result of some sort of pent up frustration. Nothing traditional about it. He didn't elaborate further.
