This has caught my attention in the past too!

It's tough, real Newtonian. How has development gone and community feedback? Content?

The toughness is quite cool but is there any sort of PVE content? besides just plainly surviving the simulation?

No idea mate, not played it in a year. Would have to try it out.

First thoughts after a week or so of playing the single player.

It's not ready yet, massively buggy in single player and I can imagine it's a game killer in multiplayer........

That being said it's actually really good fun, but the bugs just make it a constant pain. Constant freezing and crashing, storyline triggers requiring relogging and poorly optimised code. Luckily the single player game does do autosaves periodically.

The poor optimisation is what has stopped me at the moment, I've got myself a medium sized station built and a couple of ships but the game seems to hate playing with more than 9 or 10 modules in the area. Lots of complaints on the forums about this as well.

So whenever I undock from the base and attempt to align to the next warp point in the storyline the game goes into stop motion and then freezes. Tried it in both ships and it's like 2fps then freeze. CPU, memory and GPU are fine it looks like something in the code is having a fit, in EVA mode you can move around quite smoothly. So I'm trapped at my base at the moment.

Hopefully they will get it all sorted because I'd say it's akin to "Subnautica" in space otherwise. A bit of resource gathering and mining to get basic building items, pilfer a few modules from derelict space stations to build your own base. Use your fabricator to de-construct items to learn the blueprint and then you can replicate them yourself. Oxygen isn't really a problem for too long, there's no food to worry about, so survival wise it's pretty simple. Once you can make carbon filters for your ship and base it purifies and recycles the air for a long time.

Probably the hardest thing to get at the moment is Nitrogen, which you need to create the base atmosphere to pressurise the ships and base modules, although I have started finding objects that require other metals and elements to build, which I assume or on asteroids I've not visited yet.

Cheers for the review. Have to admit this has been looking tempting for a while now. Seems it's still not ready yet. Such a shame.

Really good review, Lib. I was going to jump in when I saw you were regularly playing but looks like it's best to hold off for a bit.
