What is the feeling among you all, about Teamspeak or Roger Wilco? I have grave doubts about it's validity and it's legality, not to mention it's morality. Answers on a postcard please.

Does it allow dead ppl to talk to live ones? If so it will promote cheating.
I used to have Gamevoice it had lag of about two seconds, so when told 'He's just about to come round the corner' He already had and shot me.  8O
I quickly learnt to ignore it
I do exactly what the little voices tell me to.

PC Specs:- Black box with some fans that go whirrr, a few lights, things inside that get warm, headphones, keyboard (a clicky one), mouse (with buttons and no squeak), disks (2-off SSD and HDD) and a monitor of sufficient proportions.

the only good one of these was BC [battle com] imo.
we used to have great fun using it on public sevrers just for a laugh, we got called cheeters so many times. but by far the best is the actuall in game comms, works a treat and is reliable

We experimented for ages with various comms tools and they all had their good and bad points. Teamspeak was particularly clear but it messed up in-game sounds.

As Sheepy said ... the in-built comms are more than adequate.

I dont like the fact that dead people can talk to live people and give them the drop on where the enemy is

IT'S CHEATING  8O

Both have their place and are good in their place. I think it's a bit pointless to judge these apps without elaborating a bit on the game they are getting used in.

I'm using Roger Wilco just now for IL2 flight sim, it makes a difference on battle games that have no good comms but it is difficult to police in FPS because any of us could have a TS or RW session between eachother and the CS server for example would be totally unaware.

But on the other hand, with the flight sim, saying (from the dead room) there is someone in that cloud over there is hardly going to be useful.

I know N42 use TS for Ghost Recon and it works a treat.

So my conclusion, it depends on the application of the application  8)

Amazing! The voting results bear out my feelings exactly! Although I've never used it, when it was suggested I had about the same percentages.
Now I'm leaning heavily towards 'Bad'
Merci messieurs.

oh, I voted on the basis that it was a dubious program :)

We use the in game voice thingy for CS, and that delay can prove very frustrating, but otherwise its all good. Atm we're experimenting with bf1942 as a clan as well, and in that we use roger wilco, which works great. We tried teamspeak but it proved to cause problems.

In a CS match it shouldn't matter when dead people talk to live ones because they see the same thing with fcc2. On publics it will result in a little "help" no doubt, which while very amusing for those in the know, can probably be rather annoying for those dying in dubious ways :) At our LAN's we typically have one room vs. the next to stop people looking at eachothers monitors :) We can still shout drunken insults at eachother to piss the neighbours off though

As CS has an ingame voice I think everyone should use that, but I have little problem with rw/teamspeak as long as fcc2 is on. A tiny advantage perhaps. It would allow us to correct the actions of those still alive

at our lans we have tended to play one side of the room against the other etc. but it dont really make ne diffrence, as if u take ur eyes off ur screen u r likley to die. or get a slap from the person next to u.

If suitably motivated to cheat players could ring each other up on the phone and do dead to live chat. If it was ever a problem (i.e in matches) you just lock the view to first person on your own team only.

The current comms works fine for CS. I especially like the way your avatars gob moves when you speak...now if only I could find a mirror on one of the maps.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

Didn't someone do this once while on Meathook, was nearly a couple of years ago, and didn't they get banned for it too.
