It doesn't mention anything about DoD Source though

Maus

It has HL:S though, so it's clearly more than the basic retail package. My guess is that it's the Collector's Edition one, that is equivalent to Gold. It'll let you play DoD:S.

My housemate has Silver, but we use my (retail) Steam account since he forgot his. I guess we have a fortnight to remember his login if we want to play DoD:S. This is why you should write passwords down, I suppose.

DarkAngel

It allows you to get DOD i have checked :)

QuoteAs promised earlier last week, Valve has allowed Steam users to begin the process of pre-loading Day of Defeat: Source files on their hard drives. The process of pre-loading involves downloading the game's files, in encrypted form, before the actual release date. Using their software distribution network, Steam, Valve can then simply activate the game on all accounts on the day of release, September 26th. Users who choose to pre-load Day of Defeat will be granted instant access to the game as opposed to having to download it, along with thousands of other users, on the day.

Bought that HL2 Collectors Edition for £19.99 free delivery arrived yesterday (must have been last copy) btw the collectors edition is the "Gold Edition" :), and it is now pre-loading the rest of the games including DOD.  :D

I think they must have been secretly preloading for a while. When I logged in to steam and started the preload it started at over 80%

Just sent a complaint to steam support about the deliberate limitation of only one hl2 package per customer. ie those who bought bronze and therefore are not eligible for half life source, lost coast and day of defeat so they have to buy day of defeat seperately, which is a bit of a money driven exercise. So if i had originally bought the silver package i may have got all those free :ranting: As per the silver list on the steampowered website at the moment you are allowed to buy the silver package although i already bought the bronze package?

suicidal_monkey

what do you mean only one hl2 package per customer? I was just sitting here considering getting the silver package...surely there's at least a way to upgrade if they don't want to go selling you a new copy... that or they can have their useless-for-addons "bronze" DVD back again...

When i got my collectors copy i right clicked and chose "Browse Games" then "Activate a product i already own" therefor updrading my bronze to the gold addition.

So what does everyone think of DoD: Source at the moment?  I have mixed opinions.

DarkAngel

I like it :) A nice new fresh look not much else plus a few "upgrades"

Maus

I've only run around on an empty LAN game to check out the maps, but my housemate (who is a DoD addict) says he's pretty disappointed with the changes.

I've been disappointed with every change since 2.1 though, so a few new changes won't really bother me I don't suppose, and everything looks purdy.

Really, violently, dislike the HDR effects though.

That's all very well, but I don't think we need to know of your bodily functions on THIS forum thank you very much.
