my problem.

ive got a set of plantronics they are really comfortable and light

http://www.plantronics.com/europe_union/en...ypeId=cat120010

but they dont work. its not a problem with the headset as if u hold the pin 1/2 way in both earpeices work [whereas only one works normally , the left].

not a problem with the sound card, as i tryed a sound blaster pci 128 but it still didnt work. im not back to using my old card [aztec audio].

i cant take them back as in my mums very efficient cleaning she chucked away the packaging , with the reciept inside.

i now really need help, as my old headset has given up the ghost and i cant playt with speekers due to the family shouting at me about the noise.

so basically HELP!!!!!!

Silly question, but have you tried plugging them into different ports on the back fo your sound card?  Some headset/sound card combos need to be plugged into the speakers socket rather than headphones and vice versa.

Other than that I would guess that the problem described was loose connection/plug fitting.  Sorry to not be more help - the Plantronics website lists nothing to help either.  :(

If you have to pull it out halfway to get sound in both ears..........usualy means you are reciving a mono signal.. (pulling the jack plug half way shorts out the connections alllowing a signal to go to left and right )

do u get full sound (left and right) on your external speakers ???

If you do then you may have a problem with the cable/plug on the headset

If not i would have a look around "record and playback" options for your OS

But you would have done most of that i am sure

1st. Pull it half way out and gunge it into place with a big wad of blue tac so it don't fall out completely (works for sex too). This gets it working in the short term

2nd. Sound's like your headphone jack is buggered so.........

i) Go to a high street store or a trustworthy online store and buy another set.

ii) Make sure the new set works.

iii) Put the old set in the box the new set came in and go back to the shop with the receipt and say they are buggered.

iv) The Sale of Goods Act 1977 states that products sold should be of merchantable quality and fit for the purpose they were designed for. Demand your money back which is your legal right under the above law.

On the slim chance that the shop says they will only swap them you just state you have lost faith in the product and want a full refund. If they still cut up rough then they are breaking the law and you just mention the Trading Standards Office and they crap themselves and cough up.

Bingo new set no problem

LOL Neutron, I agree with you.

The jacks fecked, you could do one thing.... but a double jack extension adaper, they seem to fit very tightly and might just make a clean connection. There is a chance your headphone socket in the card is just dirty, so get down on your knees and blow hard!

Otherwise, do what Neuton said, they have to take it back if it's broken and you are entitled to your cash back. I used to work for trading standards and too pleasure out of telling shop keepers they were wrong
Cheers, Bert

sheepy

the jack is not feckerd. it fits perfectly.

i cant figure out whats wrong. i cant demande my money back on the sale of goods act as i have lost the reciept, there for they will just laugh at me as there is no evidence i bought it from them.

Yeah I didn't make myself clear I guess.

Of course what your doing is strictly speaking illegal so I need to state that you should not do this ever.

Err but if you did, then you'd end up with a working set of headphones and all your problems solved

Sheepy the receipt doesn't matter cause you're getting a new one.

I'll go again .....

You have broke headphones bought from shop A and no box or receipt.

So go to another shop (shop B) and buy exactly the same model headphones. Make sure they work.

Now you have new headphones from shop B and old headphones and a box and a receipt from shop A but you have paid twice.

Put the old headphones in the new box with the new receipt and go to shop B.

Tell the shop B the headphones were sold broken and get your money back.

You now still have new headphones and no box or receipt, and have only had to pay once.

The shop B has obvioulsy taken back a set of headphones that they didn't sell you, shop (the broke ones came from shop A) but they will just send them back to plantronics for a credit, so they're not out of pocket.

Sorted  :?:
