Hey guys, just need a lil advice.

Planning on odering a TFT. Narrowed it down to these two which i like:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/lcd...#aMO_2d033_2dHY

Hyundai ImageQuest B71A 17" LCD Monitor - Black (MO-033-HY)  = 176

Xerox XA7-172i 8ms 17" LCD Monitor (MO-002-XE)  = £211

Basically what im trying to find out is whether the later is that much better for the 30 or so quid.
I guess it looks nicer?

Or.. is it worth getting somthing else, ive really gone on looks + response time for these two.

Thanks
Dan

why not a 19"? Not much of a jump in price, quite a lot more screen real estate...

LOL..

I agree with suicidal monkey... go for the 19" you'll love it more.

suicidal_monkey

hehehe

on the contrast front it depends on how they've elevated the contrast levels. A good TFT will have as black a black as possible (0.3 seems a good value at the moment, where 255 would be white and 0 would be black) whereas a less-good monitor will simply rampup the max brightness to blinding levels. On a general level I think you want as much contrast as you can get within a reasonable brightness setting. //www.tomshardware.com seem to do pretty good TFT reviews?

all the response times quoted in the product descriptions are usually wrong or not comparable with other tfts because of the way they are measured, only get a tft if you need the electricity savings, desk space and or your eyes get irritated by refresh rates. else just buy a nice crt and enjoy the higher resolutions (and generally sharper images) :)

go look for a product you like, then search google with the product name along with "problems" or what ever and see if lots of people are having problems with it or just generally praising it

I'd have gone along with that until I got my Viewsonic VX924. Marvellous! And I was using a 22" Mitsubishi prior to that.

Which is still for sale. :(
