When did BF2 become a flight sim?

After the comp. games last night we settled down to some fun games.

We started with a Dalian Plant, which turned into a big chopper/bomber fest!

The bad thing about this - particularly with Dalian Point - is that if the Chinese gain air superiority - in an AAS game - then it's neigh improssible to get the USMC assets onto the first flag.

(Admittedly that does sound like a winge - but the Chinese forces actually had THREE attack helicopters up at once all buzzing round the first AAS flag! It was like shooting fish in a barrel!)

The thing with AAS is that everyone KNOWS exactly where everyone else is heading - so if you have so much air power up it simply rapes the grunts on the ground.

On non-AAS this isn't such a problem - in fact I played this exact same map with TG guys the previous night and we held our ground as infantry against two attack choppers and a bomber  because we were able to split up and jeep around to seperate flags.

So I think it's a negative aspect of AAS that it can concentrate too much heavy hardware on a small area - making it a twat of a game for anyone that likes to play infantry (it is completely imballanced).

...Er...IMHO!

i agree if there was a way to remove the fighters and have 1 attack and 1 transport each only for all the flyable maps it would be better, fighters just ruin it, and too many helos is just as bad

I came into this world with nothing,
through careful management I\'ve got most of it left.

fun to fly, not fun to get raped by..

can't have it all eh? :P

also, shooting fish in a barrel isn't that easy cuz what you see on the surface of the water is not a straight line to the fish which is caused by diffraction ;)
unless it was a shotgun or something...

Toxteth

Or you could just use a very small barrel...

Oh and back to the point yes, Even i can fly now and occasionally kill someone with a chopper! Usually myself though... I agree with the restriction of choppers, 1/2 carriers and 1 attack. 3 Attack choppers on one team on AAS is a little bit excessive.

Its called refraction, i think.

Yeah. If I recall correctly from back in A Level Physics diffraction is when a beam light hits a change in the medium it's moving through and is spread out in all directions and different angles, and refraction is where it stays as a single beam but gets bent by the change in what it is passing through.

and fractionating columns had something to do with moonshine...

diffration is the bending of waves (e.g. light) due to sharp corners and narrow slits. Kind of splays the wave out a bit so to speak. Diffracted light.

refraction is the bending of waves due to passing a barrier between one medium and another. usual example of a prism and rainbows as different frequencies (i.e. colours) bend at different rates...

I think :)

p.s. you could put a grenade in the barrel?

TBH I think jets are okay. I know, they blow the crap out of you and makes playing the map more difficult. But, then again, avoid being seen, disperse troops and hide inside buildings and such.

Maybe we get the one-man AA RPG soon?

You learn something new everyday.

Oh yeah, just so this post is on topic, sounds like 3 choppers vs infantry is a bit unfair, unless of course they used their telekinetic powers.
