Aiming for the head plays a big factor...:P

Which begs the question, should you go prone when going man o man as your effectively giving your opponent an easy head shot as thats the only thing they can feasibly hit?

Shouldn't you just stay stood upright to present more of a target to your opponent? ie it will be more difficult for him to hit your head especially if you strafe a bit?

Ranger

I ALWAYS aim for the head...

Unfortunately, after a few pints WHICH head do you go for???

:)

Wouldnt know about the 'to prone, or not to prone' thing. Although i did watch Doris play as sniper and it appeared to me that shooting the person the face while they were prone didnt get a headshot...

I play CoD2 and never use prone, it seems that you move slower but have to be still to shoot (not good) and its just as accurate to crouch and shoot...makes me wonder if crouching increases the accuracy at all.

Depending on the predictability of the recoil strafe to your hearts content in close quaters. In CZ it's important that you compensate for the recoil by pulling your aim down.

Do a strafe, stop, shoot at medium to long range.

Im probably the wrong person to comment as i dont like BF2...

I use prone to conceal myself.

As for being shot by younger kids, I have played my share on ranked servers, and the part where I give myself time to aim (click right button to bring up the iron sights), still gives me more kills than another tactic.

I also recommend shooting the enemy in the back. This minimises the risk of him/her shooting back!

As for the tactic initially proposed, I'll give it a try the next time I play. I seldom jump, so I think I'm going to use space for shooting. Don't worry, I won't bind the left button for jumping, because the big risk of raccidentally bunnyjumping...

-------

Edit: I still get shot a lot by the teenagers, but I'd rather get a 1:4 kill ratio than a 1:10.

Agreed Coolhand, shooting them in the back is my preferred option too  :)

Let us know how you get on with the NMF (Non-mouse firing), I'm going to try it out too.

I prefer in order:

Paddle in back
Knife in back
Shoot in back

Favoured classes to do this to are in order:

Sniper
Sniper
Sniper - oh think I mentioned that one
AT - just as aiming
Madic - just as mediccing
Anyone else not looking

Unfortunatelky once I get the paddles or knife in my hand its hard to even contemplete swapping it - and people do turn around when they shouldnt.

I tried it briefly last night on a ranked server, but wasn't convinced it made that much difference, infact most of the time it hindered me as it felt strange not to use the mouse button. I'll give it another couple of goes though to make sure.

Boris

i have always been an exponent of mouse moving and shooting since quake 2, and have never really excelled at any multiplayer game  :(  there are a few who attend our lans who are hard core gamers and win most weekend competitions (but not under the new ticket system - its a long story) and they have never used mouse to move and shoot, in fact all who attend the lans think im some kind of freak for doing so - they all have seperate buttons and all kick my ass, so......... time to change the setup????

Don't discount one small fact in all of these ideas, you may just be a crap aim, get a tank instead, I find it evens out most aiming problems you may have.

when i first bought the game i promised myself i would excel in one class and in one transport - i knew i couldnt fly, so my main ambition was to become the best tank driver going. And id forgotten all about it until i read that!!! if you look at the global stats there are some serious tank drivers out there!!!

since joining dmw i really like the anti tank - but the standard weapon is pants and i fancy the shotgun thing but it means i would have to start my profile again or play loads on ranked and get the next unlock

Boris thats what I'm doing at the moment, set up a new account with dMw name (though it won't let me have the correct brackets!) and I've just got my first unlock, I went for my trusty DOA12 shotgun - ah old faithful  :D

To be honest Boris - now they have changed the points system - it don't take that long to get an unlock...

I have started from scratch 3 times and it doesn't seem to take long to get my favourite unlocks.

AND - I am going to have to start another one again soon (To take out the BIG in my current tag).

Just one of those pain in the ass things! :)

...On the accuracy note ~ I have to say that last night's experiences for me is that taking careful aim with ANY of the weapons - naturally - produces good results.

However, when you are running around, getting that right ballance of not getting hit while being able to hit the person you're shooting at is the big task.

This is what interests me the most.

I have tried stopping and taking careful aim - I have tried going prone...But what I use now is the zig-zag which I find really works...

I basically zig-zag (straff left and right) and at teh same time close in on teh enemy - firing short bursts as I go ~ then let rip with a long burst when close enough.

I *think* I took out armitage near the Cistern last night this way...

I have also effectively avoided tank MG and APC fire this way...Just zig-zag (randomly).

My biggest problem so far is to remember to reload before trying to shoot someone. Usually I end up firing one round, then waiting for the reload, getting shot.

It would be nice to be able to hit something with the riflebutt..

Yep, I noticed this while playing 'Call of Duty 2'...If you get caught out hit someone with the butt of your gun...

Personally I would like the option to bayonet!

:)

The trouble is - again - getting close enough to do this. 9 time out of 10 the time you run out of ammo is when your opponent is about ten feet away from you - just too far to close in BEFORE they drill one in you!

I am taking up the advice of someone (sorry forgot who) and increasing the priority of the pistol key on my Nostromo n52 speedpad.

It is quicker to switch to this than reload.
