caleb Folan from Chesterfield is a decent young striker top scorer and top assister aswell,   try loaning him?

i also bang the training right up to the top..'very heavy'  then when you look on stats you can see the differnce ..   good stuff

I've just been through my first European experience, beat Loko Tbilisi 5-1 on agg. Now got Villareal next.....

I don't think my badly funded Dundee side are quite up to it. And this is the same game where I started with York in the Conference.

ok fellas, I got a formation that is working for me after a bit of tweaking.

I'm using a 4-5-1 with a good striker, center of the 5 pulling back as a DM the rest bombing forward.

I'm getting some good results usually 2 or 3 - 1. Seems to gel better away if I notch it down to defensive and then a quick burst of attacking at half time. The only struggle I have is that the box is a bit empty on the corners.

Anyone know how to change a players position? How do I retrain a AM as a CM etc?

Thanks fella, do they get the hump if you move them about?

I have an abundance of good right wingers, but all too good to get rid of, I'd rather utilise them elsewhere.

Depends how capable they are of playing elsewhere. I converted a central midfielder to a winger, no problems as he got a starting place most times.
And if they get the hump, I can show them where the door is.

Benny, if you click on an individuals attributes, you can tell them where you want them positioned when corners, free-kicks are taken ie forward on corners and hang around the near side post or flick on headers etc.

I have all my team forward except, my fastest defenders on the half-way line and Rooney on the edge of the box to hit loose balls in.

Oh and yes I'm Man Utd, and if you think its easy, erm it isn't, my board gets annoyed very quickly if I'm out of the top 3 (I was warned for coming 4th last season) and if I win a cup they just say - we expected to win and of course Chelsea/Barcelona/Real/Inter buy all the top players - just like real life.  :D

i wish i had money to spend...

i just named my recent game 'injuries O'plenty'

5 of my key players injured, just made it up to 6th..   then we were against NottsF,

we lost 0-6  :(    i issued 3 1 week fines  .. useless players

Injuries in FM2006 are a common occurence, though I believe the latest patch alleviated some of these concerns.

Obviously your training schedule will impact the number of injuries and if you've got good physios and one assigned to each schedule (if you can afford it).

I also sub my players if I see they have a slight injury (green cross on them).

Aye, I've been subbing the green cross guys.

I'm up to the last game (FA Trophy Final) of my second season. Expected to struggle against relegation, managed a respectable 16th. Quite chuffed.

Now to work on the individuals and get a solid tactic for a good run next year.

Does the computer adapt to the tactics as it reputedly did in the last one? ie; you can't find a winner then stay with it?

I drift it between attack and defence and move my AM's forward and back depending on home or away and the score.

Also got some new coaches in, now I need a couple more and a decent physio and I think I'll be set to go for 8th or 9th.....need some good buys in the close season, my midfield is developing well, o probably a very solid DC..

Sounds like your building up a decent club there. As you've found out the games a lot tougher than previously.

Yes the computer will adapt to your tactics if you don't vary them, the fact your altering tactics mid game depending on home and away should keep the ai on its toes, it sussed out my tactic by the end of last year (I'd become very predictable keeping the same 442 for home and away) and I struggled against lesser teams.

I've still kept a 442 this year but changed my passing from short to mixed and I go from a holding DM player to an attacking one depending on the strength of my opposition. Also if I'm winning and trying to hold out I'll drop closing down to virtually none, increase time wasting, slow the tempo right down (means your more likely to keep posession), and drop my defensive line and attacking down to defensive. This usually kills the game off, however sometimes changing winning tactics backfires and  the opposition score.

Obviously I'm using a quality players who can adapt too sudden formation changes and individual instructions easily. If I was playing LLM I'd keep individual instructions to a minimum if possible as they will find it harder to adapt to sudden changes and complex instructions.

In my game I'm currently 1st in February 2008, though Newcastle and liverpool are only 5 points behind. For some reason Chelsea who cruised to an easy victory last year are languishing in 5th place. In the CL I lost my away match 0-2 to Monaco (I should have won), and I've now got to beat them at home to progress through to the next stage. Nail biting stuff  :)

I love this game, hard but rewarding.

Oooh, I may even buy it myself, sounds exciting! Although I'm tempted by Rugby Manager as well. TBH I understand way more about rugby than I do football!

aye, tis a cracker twig.

The only pain is the loading time on my laptop, that and the save times....takes bloody ages.

What I need is to retrain a mid into a FC so I can play 442 and drop to my successful 451, that would be me golden...

I also play it on a laptop. If you use normal sized Database and don't choose too many leagues (I use English (championship and prem), Italian, (C1,C2) and spanish La Liga(is that right?) and its not too bad. I have a magazine with me to read inbetween FA and CL updates in the early stages as it can take quite a while to update!

One tip is to use small database but load in DDT players once you've accumalated them in a shortlist. You can download these files from various websites.
