Yet again, you need to be a Gam-giz muppet agent to download it from their crappy servers.... I'm not quiet desperate enough at this time to take the game-spaz anal probe to download it.  :Comtempt:

What is it about Gamespy that causes so much angst?

I just re-read their privacy policy and it all came flooding back

It was the line ....

QuoteFor each visitor to our Web page, our Web server automatically recognizes and we collect that visitor's domain name and e-mail address (where possible)"

as in

"We try try to lift your e-mail address straight out of your web browser, without actually bringing it to your attention at the time."

...that I have a problem with. I know using IE and Outlook Express, and having your internet security set to low is a daft thing to do, but what makes Gamespy think they have a right to my e-mail address in the first place

 :?:

Plus I can never get the bloody log-on to work (moan mumble grumble)

Although Freelancer is looking like a top game  :)

ChimpBoy

Been waiting for this game for ages - now all my Buck Rogers fantasies can come true !

Hey Smilodon, if you want you can be Twiki to my Buck ! (ooh er matron)
If I wanted you to understand I would have explained it better

DogMeat

Bollocks.  Micro$lop rip off Elite. :x

Some pixies. No cars. No talent.

ChimpBoy

Granted - I'm a total Elite and Frontier fan, but until David Braben pulls that finger out of his ass and makes Elite 4 then I'll happily make do.

Besides, Starlancer was a great space shoot em up, and it's from the same people so there is hope, and the hype in the press suggests only good things.

Interesting to see how they cope with the MP side of it, especially with the tough competition coming from Galaxies and Eve Online

I am fortunate in not being a complete sad-act, and therefore have no clue what you are talking about.

Well if he's in the twenty fifth century that explains why I haven't seen him.

ive never played elite but ive heard great things about its quite a lot like a game i have played called 'Hardwar' which is amazing. its a bit old now, but the 3d graphics arnt too bad, and the game is just so good that you really wont be too bothered by the lack of eye-candy. you start off with the choice of 3 ships; ( seen this before eh? ) the trader, the scavenger and the fighter. in the game you're on a small mining colony in outer space on a small moon somewhere. you're pretty much free to do what you want, trading, fighting, gathering scrap etc until you want to progress. you can customise your ship and buy hangers, which you can turn into a handy little shop to make money as you fly around on your merry adventure. pretty standard elite-rip off fare i guess, but worth a look

in fact, screw cs im gunna play hardwar  :D

...now where did i put those damn disks.... :?

I have a copy of Freelancer and like it, but it's not as complex or as involved as Elite was, you dock automatically etc.. Elite was a bitch to dock on, but freelancer is very playable and a good space shoot em up game. The story is a nice backdrop and the graphics are nice using the same engine as Haegemonia. But.... Haegemonia is a superb RTS game and the graphics are amazing //www.haegemonia.com only £17 on //www.play.com.

Freelancer: Rating: 7/10
Haegemonia: Legions of Iron 8.5/10
