Server Limit

I actually got a game going on Baldric 2-3 weeks ago. We had a 3 on 3 when MH was full. Me and one other (sorry can't remember who) moved from cbm to Baldric and within 5 mins we had 6 ppl on the server. I suggested that we play small maps only until more join or we all could move over to MH. We had many fun games.

This is a community and everybody are equally responsible to get a game going if they want to play. If more people would idle both servers would be filled up in no time. I also think that the games would be starting a bit earlier in the evening than now.

We have at the moment more than 130 registered users in the forums even more are signed up for pcs. I think it is strange that we can not fill 32 slots now when we easily could fill up 24 a few weeks ago ...

I say that we should keep 16 the limit as it have improved gameplay and PCS.

I've tried connecting to the server and minimising the screen, and then keeping an eye on Half-Life Manager to see if anyone else connects. This way I can do other stuff while I'm waiting for another person to connection like read e-mail etc etc.

The problem is that when I maximise the CS screen it either crashes completely or on the very rare accassion it stays up there is no sound, so I have to restart. Is it just me or do others have this problem?

I play CS for fun, and while I take the point that it needs those first few people to connect in order to get a game going, I really don't enjoy 1v1 or 2v2. I know some people love these very small games but each to their own. However I for one will make more effort to connect first.

As to the problem with match nights, it's simple....a third server :wink:

You are not alone. I find that CS is a hog and brooks no interference from anything else. I have even taken to having HLM turned off on connection. ICQ is another interfering busybody.

Sorry I had meant my first post to have a :wink: after it...wasn't meant as bait.

Regarding the rest of the posts, I think the sweeping idea is good, we should endeavour to keep it random though.

The lower numbers will, IMHO, help encourage PCS gameplay.

I knwo the problem Smilodon. Take a piss, make a cup of coffee, and then check if someone has joined. Ppl understand that you idle and that you will show up any minute.

There's 16 on the Meat Hook so an admin asks 6 to go to Baldric.

There's now 10 on MH and 6 on Baldric.

My common sense says that anyone else trying for a PCS game will simply join MH. :?

That's a fair point, but I'm sure there were more than just Benny looking for a slot last night. My point is that had he turned up last night and seen MH with 16 on it but Baldric with 6, he would have joined Baldric and got a game.
I see the point that most people would join a server with ten bods rather than six. However as soon as the 10 server became full the 6 server would immediately take the extra players.

look, a 10 player server is stupid.... I'd say 8 a side is a minimum.

Either you're taking the piss or my word science has failed me again............my word science has failed me again.

I was assuming that all the servers remain 16 slot. By 10 server I meant a 16 slot server with 10 players on it and a 6 server was a 16 slot server with 6 players on it.

this sevrer swaping didnt work to well last night, there were 13/14 players on the MH, i had a couple of things to do, so i went away, came back and joined, there were then 3 ppl on, i asked where they had all gone, and it was over to baldric!
not jsut a few players leaving but nearly every 1 did!!!
then we managed after about an hour of play to get it up to 8 ppl. i assume that more ppl were joining baldric, can we have ppl joining the less full server plz.

Smilodon, try pressing esc and then select resume game to reset your sound. It works for me!

Is it my imagination or is being engaged agreeing with the 'Ruotsalainen'? I do believe he's lightening up a little. 'Take a piss' indeed!

Smilodon, try pressing esc and then select resume game to reset your sound. It works for me!

and it works for me too

I will no idle away on the server to my hearts content.
