Cant say i like the game mutch.

I dont like the graphics i got everything high with my new 8800GTX but still im not happy with the game.:eyebrow:

Discovered something important:

The slash key (on the numpad at least) is used to speed up time or reset it to it's normal values. unfortunately as i'm a lefty i'd also bound numpad slash to 'use torch'. This proved to be awkward when it got dark, I tried to use my torch, and then it got light again within about 30 seconds and I suddenly died of fatigue having just eaten the entire contents of my backpack.

Unfortunately the slash key doesn't appear anywhere else in the keymap file, and isn't mentioned in the manual, so I imagine it's unchangeable. If anyone finds any different please tell me.

WRT the game: i'm enjoying it. It lacks the polish of a lot of other games, but overall i'm finding it quite fun.

Deus-Ex meets Farcry,nothing great apart from the fact that it plays very well on low end machines.(3 rigs tested).Unless it improves drastically,very quickly it will be returned to the shelf to gather dust.:)

I like it so far.

Good things:
-Really nice graphics/effects;
-Nice quests (they vary alot in difficulty);
-The movies inbetween are really good;
-AI of the enemies is pretty good. They don't sit in one place and will move around. The zombified Stalkers are pretty good shots.
-Sometimes an enemy doesn't die yet after shooting so you can give him the final blow with your knife :norty:.

Things I found a bit annoying:
-Loading inbetween stages (takes a bit);
-No fast save / fast load;
-Some quests have a timelimit (I took up several quests at once which turned out to be not so smart).
-I can't find the screenshots that I've made...

EDIT: I'm almost allways overcarried with supplies and such, sometimes a bit annoying aswel.

They'll probably be in the \all users section of XP, thats where the saved games are stored as well.

I am regularly between 50 and 60kg, I just keep drinking those energy drinks :D

I write down everything I want to remember. That way, instead of spending a lot of time trying to remember what it is I wrote down, I spend the time looking for the paper I wrote it down on.

F6/F7. It's just not listed in the configs anywhere cos it's not rebindable, and not listed in the manual because, well, someone sucked. Also I have discovered that if you try and put a space in your save file name then it ignores everything after the space, so I saved 'dan', and then 'dan 2', and when I went to load it only had 'dan', but when I loaded that save it turned out to be at the point where I had saved 'dan 2'.

Quicksaves/loads also fail if your Windows username has a space in it. Like I said, I am enjoying it, but in certain places it just lacks the expected polish. This is only the username though, not the real name you have associated with it.

I didn't know energy drinks let you carry more than otherwise possible. At the moment i'm weighed down with about 5 or 6 submachine guns, and I don't want to drop any cos I can get over a grand for each one ;)

Aye, I found that. Doesn't make much sense though. Why use All Users? All the stuff in there is user specific (save games, config files etc), and are only fairly small files anyway, so why not stick them in individual user's folders?

Further on in the game you'll get bigger guns (worth 5k and such).
I used to walk around first with 1 pistol and 1 submachinegun (if the gun went bad then I'd pick up another), now I use only 1 gun, more like an M4 with a scope.
This way I can carry lots of ammo for it and I can pick up a gun that I find/take and sell it at the dealer (allready got around 100k in money that way).
For the rest I use the glowythings that you can find alot aswell in my inventory top right but when I'm at a dealer I sell them because usually I find them really soon again.

About the save games. I found out the same. The autosaves from the game can only be loaded when you restart the game which in my opinion is a bit bs, that's why I do a normal save everytime it does an autosave (when it loads another level).

BTW, I don't use the Energydrinks alot as I make sure the weight is always between 50-60.
At the moment I'm carrying one gun with alot of ammo for it, around 30 large healthpacks (10 red, 10 yellow, 10 blue), 50 bandages, 10 antiradiation shots, a few of the glowythingies and a bit to eat.
Everytime I shoot someone: check the body, take important stuff like bandages and ammo and maybe his gun (and sell this stuff again when I'm at the dealer).

What difficulty is everyone playing? I believe I'm using the stalker level, must say that I still get shot quit a bit. It's not a gun-ho game really...

I'm playing Stalker level. I originally tried it on Veteran, but got raped on the very first mission, where you go to take that base back from some bandits with 3 or 4 other guys? Tried it a few times dying really quick, then dropped back to Stalker level and restarted.

I've not seen yellow healthpacks yet, only Red and Blue. What do the yellow ones do? i've just got to the point where I have to go and talk to some dude called Grey or something? Tried it once, but he got shot in the head and I failed, so I went down the pub instead.

They don't, they just recover your energy to full, so its run, drink, run, drink, etc...

I've currently got over 50k in cash so aren't worried about money (and finding the artifacts is a quick way of making money)

Good call on the quick save/load - I'm playing on Veteran level and have just finished the X-18(?) lab run.  Yellow med-kits also have anti-rads in them.

Spoiler: If you want the 30k $ armor free, this is what you need to do: (copied from gamefaqs.com forums)

You must have progressed as far as getting into the 100 Rads Bar in order to complete this successfully.

-- Finish the 'Family Gun' quest from one of the bar patrons. The gun is found UNDERGROUND, the entrance to which is near the helicopter crash site in the Warehouses directly West from the Bar area. You can also find 'Big Ben' under here if you look hard enough :)

-- After turning in the quest, the guy will tell you about a house filled with anomalies and high radiation. This is the general location.

-- Go through the Warehouse district West of the Bar, and continue through to the Yantar area, to the spot with all of the Scorcher anomalies under the bridge. At the end of that bridge, there are a few zombified mercs on the ground at the far side. You can navigate through the scorchers there and loot the bodies. It varies between one and four mercs, but looting one of them will give you stash coordinates regarding a safe inside a house in the Warehouse, in the same area.

-- next to the train yard to the far west, and near the constantly respawning mercs who snipe at you from the broken parking garage thing, is a building that has no apparent entry except for a window you can't jump high enough to get through. You know its the correct building if your Geiger counter starts clicking when you stand next to it. You may want to use the Scientific suit or carry a few Fireballs/Teardrops on your person when going in here. The radiation level is quite high.

--- There are two ways to enter this building. Easy way: Push a box up to the window, and low crouch through the window, OR go around the corner and up the ladder that leads to a platform with a smokestack. jump on the smokestack, onto the railing, and on to the roof across the narrow alley. Navigate your way to the large hole in the roof, and jump down CAREFULLY. There's a large pit that will trap you if the electro anomaly above it doesn't kill you.

--- Go out into the hallway of the house, and into the second room on the right. There's a black safe up against the wall (you can use your stash locator to find it) containing the SEVA suit, FREE!

--- Go back into the hallway, turn left, and take the next left. Push a box up to the window, low crouch and jump out. Congrats on getting a 30k RU suit, arguably the best in the game, for free!
