Crash!

Last night my computer went down in AQ20. I managed to get it back up to finish the raid but this morning it was completely dead.

Currently working on a solution. Just wanted you to know I dont think I can make it to Monday's raid.

The problem is my monitor wont switch on. I turn on the computer and I can hear the HDD, fans etc. start up but there is not being sent any singal to the monitor.

It started yesterday evening when we were in AQ. Suddenly I got a blue screen. It comes from time to time when my computer gets overloaded so I just rebooted and entered WOW again. Then after 1-2min it froze. I rebooted again and entered WOW and finished the AQ. Just after I took the portal to IF I got a blue screen again. I got tired of it and went to bed. This morning the monitor didnt respond when I turned on my computer.


I have tried everything. I have unplugged my GFX (GeForc 6800LE) and tried using my onboard. Still nothing. Then I tried putting in another GFX... Still no signal.

After some thinking and swearing I tried to pull out the RAM (It might be a RAM block) but still nothing happens. I have tried moving them around in different slots and replacing them with some other RAM.

check your monitor with an other pc(use his wire), if it works check a diff monitor with your pc(use your wire)

I have tried to connect my PC to another monitor. Doesnt work.

Sounds like heat :blink: Im no guru , but if stuff like that happens its usually that. Maybe its your GPU? that something else "steals" it power. You installed some new parts lately?

i dont think its heat.. why would heat affect a monitor.. and if it would why wouldnt it work after a whole night turned off..

Thats the thing. Something like this usually happens when you install new hardware. But this just came over night. I havent installed any new hardware for months.

My PSU is a 300watts so its not a strong one but I havent had problems with it. I have tried to unplug everything except the vital parts. Still no reaction.

I have replaced my old CPU cooler with a better one and when I did that I didnt have enough cooling paste or what its called so it booted and shut down just after.
Yesterday evening when it started to crash I checked the temp and it was around 50 degrees celcius so its not the problem.

Well usually the last change on the system causes the problem. But if you didn;t chance a thing then I was also thinking of a heath problem. And after reading that the pc also had the problem from a cold start made me think of something else.  Try the easy things first like check your power connections on your mobo and hardware. Check also the graphiccard fan... Read out the Windows system log file.
Right mouse click My Computer --> Manage --> Event Viewer --> System. Check right window for red marked loggings. Maybe you have a problem with a piece of hardware or an updated driver. Eliminate the possibilities. Try another monitor, switch (for testing only) from graphicalcard. Disconnecting your drives (harddisk or CD/DVD-rom)......Other screen resolution? etc....

Problem occurs with have duty and it is random, check ram as a posibility.

Don't suppose you noted the BSOD error number did you?

I had a similar problem once - new soundcard fixed it for some reason...

I have tried to disconnect all HDD and CD drives etc. I have also tried to switch monitors and RAM. Nothing seems to work.

I cant even boot up the PC so I have a hard time configuring anything in bios or windows.

Seems like I need a new motherboard?

If he can re-enter WoW he can also read out the log files. Must admit a soundcard in my system did lock up the system. Thing break down from time to time.
