Quote from: vobler;253856I have been toying with the Vista speech recognition a few days now and I am impressed. Not as a tool to dictate e-mails and forum post, but as a sim command tool.

Both LFS and iRacing can be controlled by it and it is quite simple to use. So in LFS if someone logs on I just say "press F6" and a Hi message is sent. If I say "press F9" it shows my tire display and so forth. But sadly I cant get it to dictate a message after I say "press T". But of cause I can say "Press h" and "press i" to "type" a message letter by letter but that is cumbersome. But to use it as a virtual button box is very nice. So for exsample if I need to enable repairs in LFS I say "Press F12, Press down, Press down, Press right, Press F12". Simple and without taking your eyes of the track!

If you have Vista take half an our to set it up and train it and try for your self.
Funnily enough I had been thinking about something similar myself last week. I have a Dutch version of Vista which doesn't have speech recognition, so I can't use that. Instead I thought of using Game Commander 2. That's a neat little app that was released quite a few years ago and isn't being developed anymore. I remember using it in Counterstrike back in the day and it worked flawlessly.

So I grabbed a trial version off the internet, installed it and tried it. It worked well, only problem is Ventrillo wouldn't detect my mic when Game Commander was running. That, and it doesn't have a "push to talk" option, so even if I were able to use both Ventrilo and Game Commander, every time I'd say something on Vent the app would try to recognize a command and maybe accidentally execute one. So... I uninstalled it again

Do you have the same problem, that Vista is continuously "listening", even when you're just talking on Ventrilo for example?

In Vista you just say "Start listening" and "Stop listening" to enable/disable the recognition software. Usually its off, so if I speak on Vent its not doing anything. To give commands I have to say "Start Listening" before giving the commands. When Finished giving commands I say "Stop Listening".

Today on the server I mentioned a new wheel by Fanatec. From what I gather it's identical to the "old" Porsche wheel on the inside, but it's got a new grip made from Alcantara leather. The main thing about it, though, is the pedals. It's got fully customizable Clubsport pedals with a load cell and vibration on the brake pedal! You can find more info by navigating to "products" on their website. It's called the GT3 RS.

The price isn't all bad either. €290 for the wheel and pedals combined! The pedals alone are €200.

Oh, and here is a bundle of images for you to drool at. ;)
Hopefully there should be some reviews up shortly. :)

Pretty interesting. The wheel has 11 buttons and it's belt driven and pedals seem to be better than G25's. But for G25 owner it might be better to upgrade to CST pedals instead and just be happy with the G25 wheel.

Another product I feel deserves attention is the new Logitech G13 controller. It has 22 programmable G-keys and LCD display compatible with all software written for G15. I think it would work well as a button box and then would work with the LiveForG15. Review here: http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,2845,2336956,00.asp

Doubtless they are good wheels but I simply couldn't cope with twirling a Porsche wheel whilst driving ANYTHING other than a Porsche! It would really do my head in. Pedals do look good though.

Lovely looking kit, and you can always prise the Porsche logo off or bung a Hillman sticker over it.
Will strip for badges

AFAIK we don't really know anything yet. There's been rumours milling around about a new Logitech wheel sometime this spring, but no announcements have been made. So far it's only speculations. Those who wait will see. :)

To be fair, I got my info from the LFS forum (yeah, I know!) but I didn't get any further than post #32. No doubt there will be a #G27 on a Logitech product at some time, but who knows?

Yeah, I found that thread after I started digging around a bit. Thats where I found the image that looked like a real photo.

I'm interested because my G25 is due for replacement soon.

The G27 is a fact, it's been announced to Logitech retailers and it should be released somewhere this year. However, Logitech haven't released any official info about it, so until then I would consider any pictures as mere speculation.
