How many tracks?

What's the feeling for restricting the amount of tracks on the server? I wonder if it's a good idea to have say, 4 or 5 tracks for a week, then a different 4 or 5 the following week. That way there would be less 'having to dash off and get it' or having to learn new tracks all the time.
Your reactions please.

not that I've been online but the idea of a restricted set of tracks sounds good. cycle one or two out with replacements each week so that each track gets about 2-3 weeks on the server to give everyone time to learn the corners etc. Variety is the spice of GTL it appears :)

Hmmmm

It's a bit like the map choices for CS. B'Jeezus that was painful at times.

IMHO, I'd like to see a post telling me the tracks being used on the server and the permitted cars for those tracks - on a daily basis.

For example:

Pre 9pm: Brands Hatch GP  - All available cars

Post 9pm: Misano - MKII Jags only

This could be changed in-server if all racers agree.

sounds good to me! When custom maps are used it'd be appreciated if a link to where we can download the map from were placed ni the same post...

Hmm difficult one to answer. I think I've got all the current tracks and as new ones get mentioned I go and get them. So most of the time I'm good to go when people feel like a change. But for the other newbs it means that each time we change to a non-standard track they'll need to go and get it. But over a period of time they will be in the same situation as me and probably have 99% of the tracks with only new additions missing.
It is nice to be able to change the tracks because I find that sometimes I'm not in the mood for a twisty turny technical one and just fancy a bit of a blast. Maybe take out a car I've never tried before on a straightforward track and get to know it.

Should we have a number of tracks to choose from each week? Yes I think so, otherwise you will end up with a couple of old favorites going around and around, which will get a bit boring, much like the dust and dust2 CZ scenario.
I do exactly what the little voices tell me to.

PC Specs:- Black box with some fans that go whirrr, a few lights, things inside that get warm, headphones, keyboard (a clicky one), mouse (with buttons and no squeak), disks (2-off SSD and HDD) and a monitor of sufficient proportions.

I'm all for making life easy for people but don't you think there is enough places to download tracks? It would mean me going to a download site etc. etc. They're big boys now.  ;)

well ... when a decision is made to place a custom map on the server that custom map had to be downloaded from somewhere ... surely it's a quick job to paste a link?  :flirty: so much easier for "the rest of us" :)

Bit tricky that.  ;)

To be frank I don't care. As long as an updated list with tracks in rotation is avaiable in the DMR section somewhere... That is what I've been missing.

However, a stickied list of which tracks are currently required would be beneficial for the irregular among us  :)
