Dkp site

I missed my name on the DkP site if you filter it on cloth... I do see a lot warlocks  but not my name  :nope:

I don't know if this is the right spot to put this, but hope to see my name soon on the DkP site if I filter on cloth

All the filters are mildly borked up, dont worry if you whisper the ML should still be able to find your dkp, it might just take a bit longer.

One sugestion, wouldn't be nice to make a filter with RG1 or RG2 membership??, that will be easier to lookup standings inside the raidiging group.

If it aint broke, dont fix it. The filters are hard wired in the site core, and id personaly rather not TANGO arround with it, cause breaking it would be pritty disasterous.

Shouldnt matter to much though, i always use sort on alphabet and then compare the whispering members.

Well, i dont share the same opinion. If things dont broke then dont fix them...well, we arent talking about "fixing anything", we are talking about improving!!

You know, when a system works fine its great, but it can be allways improved. Having a RG1 and RG2 filter, for example, along with class filter will save a lot of time for ML and a lot of time for member to lookup standings. For example, at this moment there are 19 Warlocks dkp site, which of them are RG1 and wich of them are RG2?? i think is pretty interesnting to have the chance to order it this way.

Im sure there must be some skilled web programmer within the guild that can add the new query to the dkp site, i mean, we are only saying that the statement query will be something like filter "RG1" where "class" = classtype (it isnt as hard as you think, belive me)

Other chance is to set a new value in member description, i mean, actually we have for each memeber the following values:

Name, Rank, Level, Class, Earned, Spent, Adjustment, Current and Last Raid,

We can add a RG Status tab along with rank tab, for example, that will make easier to sort out standings too.

Obviously all this is just a suggestion for taking in consideration by the officers. I just think it will improve the system and make the searches faster and loot times shorter (and less messy)

Might not be hard, but if the data gets fubard up your screwed beyond belief, losing all the dkp info for members would not be a preferable situation. And how does it matter, the list of defender/guardians is a few posts higher then this one, and ML only looks at the ppl that whisper anyway. If you raid a lot youd know the ppl in your RG offhand anyway if you give me a list of names i know pritty much for all classes the RG1 members.

Men, we live in 21th Century, didnt you heard about "backup copies"? specially full and incremental server backups??

Anyway, we are just talking about a databse holding the data of the members 8which can easily be backedup) and a few "new querys" (no need to eliminate old querys). You can also make a copy of the system under a "development server" out of the "production one" (i can offer my own server as development server for SoG if necesary as same im a profesional programer and skilled enough to commit this changes in the site!! as any other improvements i think might be interesting)

Can you provide me a copy of the dkp site so i can work on it in my own enviroment? that will be great, that way i can show you how to imprve the site in test server with access to all memebers so thet can vote if changes are worth of it or not.

And one thing, Bastet, if you raid a lot you will probably know almost of the members, but what about the newcommers? or the people that couldnt afford to raid so much?

im just suggesting some improvements, nothing else! i thing officers are doing a great job for free just for the love of WoW.

well if you want a back up of the thing you have to talk to tanales, i really dont know much about the system, as you might have noticed by now. And since its dang important to us i dont want to mess with it too much as for the backups thier made, but not directly by us.

As for the members, i think i know pritty much most the ppl in the raid groups, and if not, heck then ill look em up on the list

I dont see the point here, i dont even knwo what is this....a newsfeed? a forum? just threads? For me it appears pretty messy there...

Well, anyway, what i had mention i think will benefit things over and will make data more redundant, easy to habdle and fast in sortering. But is just my point of view...

One problem with filtering on RG1 or RG2 is that at the moment there might be both in one raid. So it might be a nice addition, but not one that is necessary.  In any case, I don't know enough to edit the code, so I cannot change anything!

As for backups, there is a backup taken nightly to a different box and then that backup is also FTP'd offsite, so I reckon we're pretty secure there atm.  It's one of the benefits of now hosting our own DKP.

Well, i know that sometimes people for RG2 go to RG1 for filling necessary spaces, but THEY STILL ARE RG2 people!

I mean, Teaelle = RG1, if teaelle go one day with RG2 to MC that dosent mean he is RG2, he is still RG1 despite the dkp's earned with that RG2 run, nope?

Is just one more tab to handle data in a more efficient way.

Isn't that what most of this thread has been about?  Adding a simple filter, so that you in the same way you can choose to see only druids, you can also only choose to only see RG1 or 2 members...?

And btw - to Bastet who is afraid of crashing anything with the DKP system: such a filter shouldn't be hard to implement.  It's only about adding a very simple parameter in the sql query - and an sql query only retrieves data, it doesn't add anything, so it can't ruin anything either
It's just to change "SELECT * FROM MEMBERS WHERE CLASS = 'Druid'" to "SELECT * FROM MEMBERS WHERE MEMBERSHIP = 'Guardian'" (this is ofc very simplified example, but it doesn't need to be much harder ) before you list out the data.
