Agreed! Some of those screenshots really look incredible. I'll definitely be downloading this.

Mille Sabords

Makes me want to try - downloaded a few and will install that on tonight. I hope FPS do not drop significantly with this pack, otherwise I will have to find a good reason for my employer to upgrade my laptop :)

Personally, I would never put anything personal on a computer or laptop that isn't mine. I've heard several stories of people who - for whatever reason - got fired and had to leave the building immediately; they were not allowed to startup their laptop to copy some personal files or pictures or whatever to bring home with them... nothing. That's actually a pretty common procedure, as far as I know. Only last week one of my sister's colleagues had it happen. Guy had been working there for 14 years, but they had to fire him (economic crisis and all that, same reason I'm unemployed at the moment) and he was literally crying as he stood in the elevator on his way out. He wasn't allowed to clean out his desk or to go to his computer, he had loads of pictures from his little daughter on his laptop and stuff... all gone.

Laptop is far from being a free gift, as it allows me to catch up with my work at home without clocking in / out, so basically unpaid (as in free) work.
The amount of it varies but easily pays off the laptop yearly...
If I'm chucked out it will be with a 3 months notice (and will not happen within the next 6 or so considering my workload), and the only personal stuff in the laptop is LFS (won't run on my ageing mac :)) - no problem to download it again.
Good luck finding a new job, times are not easy.

I saw no FPS drop at all with that new pack of bling :)  ...and my computer is nearly as old as Ron :narnar:

Didn't know you could play LFS on an abacus

Define how old your computer is please. I have a Dell 4600, P4, 1gb of ram, and a 256 graphics card. Is your system slower or faster than mine?
Just wondering if I should even bother to install the texture packs or leave off until I get a new comp.

 Thanks Todd

Athlon64 3200+ 1 gig of ram and a 6800GS (256 meg)

I've installed every hi res texture i can find for LFS and I've never seen any noticeable difference in FPS.  I have it locked at 60FPS and there it stays.

Gnomie

Apparently some users even see increased performance! Some dude said he went from 35 to 50 FPS!

Downloading now. :dribble:

Toddshooter

Nice!!  Thanks Guys.:)

I downloaded and tried the pack. So of course I had to take it for a test ride. Since I'm still on vacation I had to use a mouse, and I had a couple of rather unfortunate close encounters with the walls. On the plus side, I got to see how nice the reflections look! :D

No performance drops here either. Looks very nice!

Doorman

This you may find interesting. I loaded it up, changed the FF ingame to 25% as per instructions and had a drive (XRT) I have to say the difference was...subtle, but as I turned some laps (I 'turn' laps these days :roflmao:) I began to think it felt better. :g: See what you think.
