Can I have a list of people interested in an LFS competition please. I'm considering  something along the lines of a 20 lap team race where drivers change after 10 laps. We need an even number though.
1st prize will be an unlimited amount of time lying, mouth open, beneath an open spigot at the brewery of your choice.

Nothing at Fern Gold:taz: or in most rear wheel drives:yell:

Give us beginners some time to practice on the track and in the car, please.

Calm down dear, it's a game.

My thoughts were Blackwood GP  in XFG(FWD) or XRG(RWD) in demo mode. That'll mean no excuses for anyone!
Practice? Let's see, today is the 3rd of September and the LAN is on the 6/7th October, so that's 30 days practice. Enough for you?

I'd love to have a go...can I have a bit of praccy first though?

I've never driven a virtual car before, so I'm relying on this experience to make me buy a wheel:unsure:

I could be your pitman Ron

Can I ask a rule technicality?

If it's two people per team, is that 2 PCs or a physical swap at a machine (real driver change)? Would you have to drive with the same setup and wheel settings if using one PC per team?

I only ask questions, never provide answers.

Blunt, go here, download the full S2, and practice to your hearts content in demo mode. In the demo there is one track with four configurations including rallycross and three cars, a fwd shopper rwd family type thing and a rwd turbo. You can try it with mouse steering or keyboard steering. We're setting up a demo server with will be private so demo drivers can race in peace and be spared the idiots of demoland. Or drive off line against admittedly dumb AI. A word of warning though, it's nearly as adictive as WoW and certainly more frustrating, eh BFC? (have you recovered your equilibrium from last night? Sheesh! What a grouch!)

BFC: 2 PCs. In the connections list you will see a 'T' against your partners name, click on it. When he comes in to pit and the pit has finished he clicks on the 'T' against your name. Et voila! Your are plonked in his car and away you go taking care to to exceed the pitlane limit.

Which brings to mind another thing. It might be best to use 'RACE_S setups so that noobs don't get lumbered with possible more twitchy advanced setups. That could be decided betwen teamies though.

I've just spotted a flaw in my plans. Demo mode only supports 11 connections so if more than ten of you want in we're rogered!

:lmfao: more than 10! :lmfao:

What about making everyone use "easy race setups" from http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=279 ?

They can be distributed by "LAN scrutineers" and a "DMIA passed" sticker affixed to each machine. Or am I getting too serious:blink:

I'm up for a bit'o'racing at the LAN - wheel will be brought along with me.

I wouldn't mind someone else doing the hard work with creating a good setup:flirty:
I used to have a quite nice, low-riding, barely-any-suspension setup pre-S1 but things seem to have changed somewhat

I'm interested.

Ron, did you see the PM I sent you? As part of the gaming committee I wanted to get your feedback before I progressed anything.

For those of you wanting to give the LfS demo a try we have provided a private dMw server for you to burn rubber on.

The server is called: Dead Men Racing 2
Password is: mymates

Download LfS here. 138MB

The LfS regulars will try to be on the server from time to time to help the needy raise above the rank of 'dangerous n00b' to 'mediocre petrolhead'.

See you there
