Quote from: Nefertem;174498Btw isn't this worth a sticky? I've used the comparison thingy in the first post a few times now, and reckon it could be useful for people looking for a new monitor.. Just a thought..

I don't think i will be changing form my 22inch crt monitor any time soon. Each pc i own has a 22inch monitor now as i was able to get four 22inch monitors from an ebay seller for £12 each. I also have the space to spare :P.

Not sure I am happy with one of the sizes shown in that piccie.

The picture in the first post shows:
LCD & Widescreen LCD

The picture above shows:
CRT, LCD & Widescreen LCD

4:3 monitors (LCD or CRT) and widescreen should scale in a predictable fashion (you can predict/interpolate on the graph where intermediate points should be) but whilst the widescreens shown do scale predictably the 4:3 LCD screens seem to scale a little unpredictably!  If you look at the 17" LCD monitor in the picture above is has not scaled properly (seems bigger than it should be compared to the one smaller and one larger).

Most of the points seem ok, but I think something has scaled incorrectly there on the 4:3 LCD panels.

Yeah i actually noticed it a few mins after i posted, i know the way manufactures measure CRT / LCD makes the size different (due to the way CRT monitor surfaces bend and stuff like that) but didnt notice the incorrect scales until after...

I would be sure to check out some more about technology before going for a 30 inch.

Read an article about the pro's and cons of 30", and it sure did not recommend them ..yet..

Something about scaling and stuff.
Perhaps i'll put in some more details later on when i remember the stuff. :)
or just re-read.

I know that im going for a 22" or perhaps 24", when it's time to upgrade monitor. :)

Speaking as a 30" user, I have ZERO problems with it and the user experience is insanely good.

Whilst not being a 30-incher like TL, I have two 24 inchers and think they're superb (except when sitting alongside the 30incher :sad:_)

A bit of an old thread to bump - but hey, it's a stickey, so it's here anyhow.

I came over this nice site where you can get a nice visual comparison (together with mathematical numbers) for any kind of monitors: http://www.displaywars.com/

It doesn't include as many monitors at the same time as the one in the original post, but here you can compare anything :)

Ooooo that's exactly like the one I got delivered for Ã,£231.99  in September last year.

I like it a lot, good blacks and colours. Although the default brightness setting had to be turned down.
I do exactly what the little voices tell me to.

PC Specs:- Black box with some fans that go whirrr, a few lights, things inside that get warm, headphones, keyboard (a clicky one), mouse (with buttons and no squeak), disks (2-off SSD and HDD) and a monitor of sufficient proportions.

I'm more tempted by this, which is at a fair sensible price:
