In Shattrath City, you have to choose faction between the Aldor and the Scryer.

There is this page at WoWWiki that has gathered and compared some info about the two. It had a table with some "general" recommendations at the top, and for me as a feral druid (I'm a leather worker too btw) it said Scryer.
But as I read further down on the page, I didn't get all convinced, so now I stand here in doubt, not sure which way would be the better one to take.

Do some of you have any good hints? And what have the rest of you guys chosen?

Great site thanks bob, i have still to choose, so this will make life eazyer!

As for LWing plans the ones you dont pick you can buy for marks (ready made products) you earn with one of the other factions i think.
Aszune (Alliance):
Sokhar lv 80 (H/M) Warrior, Sokhár lv 80 (H/M) Death Knight, Beset lv 70 (NE/F) Druid, Bastet lv 70 (NE/F) Rogue, Mentu lv 70 (Dr/M) Shaman

Looked it over, and it looks like Aldor, mainly cause i fancy the shoulder enchants more.

Nefertem

I think im going for Aldor with Nefertem and Scryer with Livtraser (mage)..

I'm bumping this, since it looks like the site I linked in my first post as been updated with some stuff that was missing the first time I browsed it (do a refresh, and perhaps also skip browser cache, just to make sure you get everything).

I've been looking a bit more on the various stuff you can get from both factions, and as a feral druid and leather worker I think I'm leaning more and more towards Aldor (even though that table at the beginning of the page says opposite for feral, which I don't really agree with).

But are there more armor/weapons/recipes/etc. you can get from the two factions than what is described on that site?

I have no idea what I'm gonna pick. I would really like the Scryer enchants but at the same time I would really like the Aldor Alchemy Recipe... Have no clue what I will pick.

Anyways, I fell over this quote from the Unofficial forums:

QuoteYou can still do quests for the opposite side. You can hand in tokens to farm rep aswell.
There is a friendly Scryer npc in Low Town (regardless of what rep you have with Scryers) who will give you quests that you can turn into her.
You can also hand in tokens to her aswell once you've completed the quest lines.
The effect of "choosing" a side is simply a headstart with regards rep. You can build up the rep of the opposite side all the way to Exalted if you wish with the drawback being you start from Hostile instead of Friendly. The adverse effect is simply reducing your Aldor reputation relative to your Scryer's increased.
So, in short, you've bitten yourself on the toe but not all is lost ^^.

The blue caster staff for the Aldor is lovely, but the Scryer enchants are virtually identical and they have an alchemy recipe too - basically it boils down to how long will that staff last me, and I'm pretty sure there will be just as good items from the end-game raiding in TBC.

So right now I'm thinking Scryer is the way to go....
If I wanted you to understand I would have explained it better

As a melee DPS Shammy I went with Scryers. They have a very nice dagger, plus i'm an alchemist and they have a good recipe too.

BTW: Dual wielding 2x fast 1h-ers (daggers normally, but at the mo i'm going with 2x [item]Grunt's Waraxe[/item], as it's attack speed it quite high) with windfury applied to both rocks! When I add in stormstrike and a couple of earth shocks i'm out dpsing the mage in our group, similarly geared for his class. I thought mages were supposed to be the highest damage dealers?

Well they should do a bit more damage, but skill > class. Just the other day I was doing a blood furnace run with my temporary crappy green BoE gear and I was nr.1 DPS with 34%, eventhough I wasn't doing much at the part with the technicians (melee and mines don't mix well :narnar: ). Both the mage and the hunter did less damage. It doesn't prove that my class has more damage potential, but mearly that the other DPS-ers in the group weren't trying hard enough. The same goes for shammy vs mage, when both are 'equally' geared and are played well, a mage should do more damage then a shammy.

As for the Aldor vs Scryer thing. It's nice that that website summarizes the patterns, items and enchants you can get, but I don't really agree with the 'class X should go for ...' part. You can't see feral druids as one thing for example, cat and bear are far apart and both require totally different gear.

Carr0t

Well yeah, but i'd always considered this mage to be pretty damn good. He's our guild leader, and used to be the MC raid leader when we were part of a larger group.

Mind you, he had been drinking a little ;)
