As a rough guide the prices for vista have been released on the pc world website for the release on 30th january. Anyone going to buy it on the day?

It's more cost effective to take out a Technet Plus Subscription (£280) and then you can download the ISOs of any MS software you want (Vista included). These are full unrestricted versions.

That sounds interesting. How is the charge acculmulated monthly or yearly?

Select "Europe Middle East and Africa" from the link on the right hand side of the page which opens when you click the following URL:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/default.aspx

Go for the "direct" option as opposed to server/user options (its cheaper and you can download to your PC without waiting for MS to send you anything)

the only thing I can really see myself wanting Vista for thus far is Crysis, and i'm not sure how well my machine would handle it. Thus I plan to wait until I upgrade my machine, probably when quad cores are in greater supply, and then buy Vista. Certainly tests on TomsHardware suggest that graphics card drivers and such available for Vista aren't currently up to scratch, so if I wait until I have the hardware to do it justice they'll hopefully have fixed all the release bugs and got drivers and software out for everything I want to use as well.
