Draz has done what I was hoping would happen and has 'offered' to pull SoG's raiding up from the ground.

He has an excellent post in the raiding forum.

I thought they were great threads as well, and a great initiative from Drazila :thumb:
I know we've said we won't focus on raiding quite yet, but still if we at least doesn't start to think a bit more actively about it, there's not much doubt about what will happen...

A second thought that got to me while I read that thread as well:
I can say for sure on my own account that I have zero experience when it comes to organizing and (in time) leading raids (neither do I think it's a place that I can contribute that much in the closest future, as I won't be returning to raiding again anytime soon). Now I don't know for sure about any of you, but I think I wouldn't be much wrong if the same goes for all the rest of you as well.

Would it be an idea to offer Drazila a spot as an officer? Cause I think we could really benefit from someone that is really dedicated and skilled when it comes to raiding, and for this I think Drazila would fit perfectly. He was an officer back in the days when SOG built its first raid group together with Danu, and I don't know many others (at least who are still in the guild) that have so much knowledge, and also is that much active around on other forms and the web, looking for strategies and other WoW related stuff etc.

Now I don't remember the exact reasons why Drazila retired as an officer in the first place, but I think it was related both to that he was tired of his old character Tenilia, and also that he were a bit fed up with all the work (somebody correct me if I'm wrong here), and I don't know if he'd say yes if he got the offer (but considering the post he made, he seems eager to help things happen at least). As I said, this is just a thought I got earlier today, and I bring it to you folks as a suggestion. I think it's at least something that's worth considering!

Yeah, for instance.

Now we haven't dealt out any other specific roles (perhaps not that important in the phase we have been in), but I guess there are several areas that people could get a a special responsibility for, raiding being one of 'em.

I would be keen to have him involved.  I think he's an extremely loyal player.

Teni was the original brains behind the SOG/Danu raiding alliance and whilst Danu provided more 'bodies' it was Teni who provided the tactics.  My recollection is that he got tired of all the work that went into the raiding and the arguments about how to do things and these combined was what prompted him to give it up.

From being a raider under Teni and an officer alongside, I can say that he is not a voice comm person and prefers written instructions.  One of the contributory factors was that over time as the number and experienceof his appointed officer group became stronger they liked to have more input - this eventually caused some friction as Teni strongly believed in 'his way' which was difficult to then challenge.  I recall one particular issue which we debated strongly in officer channel and I think brought things to a head for him - it was his way or not, the officers said not, and he stepped down.  Now I may have not quite got my facts straight, but I this is my recollection.  The debate and the resignation happened at the same time and this is my interpretation of the events.

Anyway, that's the background.  Teni is a fantastic source of technical WoW stuff.  How you use this resource, whether as an officer or not is your choice.  And if you make him an officer nad he reads this then I hope he is not offended by what I believe is an honest summary of past events!

Can I suggest that you FMs make use of your Admin powers and start editing some names into the groups listed by Teni?

Can't he edit his own post? I thought that would be the best, so he can keep control over that which he have initiated.

He can, but then he is not the most frequent of forum visitors, at least he has not been in the past, but he may well be with these.  It's Friday, the runs start tomorrow.

I'm still of the belief that we can have great use as Drazila as an officer. Anyone else have any input to this?

I'm not trying to influence either way, but I would pose a question or two for you to answer before jumping into a vote to appoint another officer.

Specifically, why do you need Tenilia?
Do you have a role for another officer that cannot already be filled by an existing officer.
Is there a unique skill that the current group of officers is missing? (it's easy to say RL here, but ask yourself if you are capable of learning and doing the job yourself - that's how I got to do it and that's how you are all capable of doing it too)
Are there any potential problems with an ex-GM & RL becoming an officer or RL again?

I'm not stating an opinion here, just asking you to ask yourself these questions and similar before jumping into a discussion about whether someone  should be an officer.  On the basis that someone could be of 'great use' you'd invite Elithuzad to be an officer, but the problem is you need to assess the need first, then if a need exists that cannot be resolved by the current group then you define the role and skillset you are looking for. Only then can you think about the 'who'.

You're right indeed, that is questions that we should ask ourselves - but the only thing I kinda miss, and that is not special for this topic, it's something I've noticed in other topics as well, is that when questions around a matter that needs some kind of decision to made are asked, the discussions tend to die out pretty fast. Some input from more of us officers of any kind, either for or against, would really help out I think!

Will think a bit more about those questions of yours... To be continued :)
