I had a PM from him last night expressing interest in joining.  I sent him the standard 'thank you for your interest but we are not currently recruiting' reply.

TBH, other than the Mapping section of the forum I haven't seen much of him on the server, or is that just me?

8O  You must be kidding me. I have played a lot with RT and the guy is a good player. :P Frenzy class with an AK I would say. I have played a lot with him on MH but also on cbm and CIGS. I think we should reconsider that reply.

Hey JAS and Albert back me up on this.

Cheers,

Btw Red Thunder is 15 years old I think. Any age limit ofr dMw?

Regarding participating in the forums he have done 30 or so posts. Some of our members aren't much better actually.

I agree with you though that more participation on the Hook would do him good.

I've seen RT around but not on the MH as much as elsewhere.

We should also remind ourselves that there are others who've expressed an interest in joining.

Increasing the clan again is an option. It would help with the poor availability problem for a start.

Perhaps we should have a two-tier membership. Match and PCS. Both tiers play PCS as a member of dMw but only the 'match' ones play matches? This could be based on the individual's preference with those wanting to play matches having to fulfill a set of criteria. This is just me thinking out loud without thinking it through properly but what do you think?

I agree with oldie.
i have not played many matches lately due to not being able to play on a mon or a thurs as these are the only nights me and the missus have together (TV progs we watch together).
Also i have not overly liked the idea of playing with different players every match i would prefer to play with the same people each time to learn to play better as a team.
Anyway this is not the reason for this post.

I have played against Red thunder a few times ..but would not put him in the same league as frenzy, oldie or sadako but still a good player.

Do we really want to increase the clan again???
The bigger it gets the more i lose interest.

Then we wont take him in. We wouldn't want to lose the master of the bitches. :D

Should we have match and non match team ???  I think we would find that most people will put themselves down as a match player but still be not be available…. But a quick poll could give an indication of the clan feel

As for Mr Thunder …good player and plays mature for his age…..We do have some very non active members maybe its time to replace them  8O

There are some top blokes in our clan..... EG eggsie who cant participate as much as many others.... however it is still a pleasure having him around and those peeps really make the LANS enjoyable..... you do enjoy the lans dont you??  I think we ought to keep careful tabs on our roots IE PCS and LANs.... perhaps oldie has the right idea, that would at least secure everyone a place in dMw.... problem is once peeps are certain they are not match players then they most certainly wont be around if needed to fill spaces in a match.

I'm with Smite on the "lets not get too big" oppinion.  35 is a lot... 40 would be absolute max... by that I mean critical mass if were to maintain our tight-nit little clan type community here with any chance of knowing all the members.... many of which I consider friends which is why I would so venomously reject the notion of kicking anyone out!

I wouldn't want to kick anyone out either. This PCS community is solid. No lamers, no hassle. Superb. This is and will always be dMw's main focus.

There are other clans that have gone down the road of allowing players to wear clan tags as a badge of community. CoFR and N42 did this I believe.

Again, only thinking out loud, we could have the following levels of membership:

Level 1: PCS
Level 2: PCS + Matchplay
Level 3: PCS + Advanced Matchplay

Criteria:

Level 1. A MHPCS regular wishing to wear the dMw tag. Will have access to the dMw member section of the forum. Applications voted on by admins.

Level 2. dMw member wishing to play competitive matches. Must have fully working voice comms, a buyscript and have their WONID registered appropriately. Will have access to the matchplay area of the forum.

Level 3. Level 2 members considered to be skillful enough to form the best that dMw can offer. Expected to be available for high profile matches.

Interesting idea. And I agree with the previous two posts no kicking out is necessary.

Oldie, that is a sterling idea!  it seems to suit everyone and I imagine I'd really have to sit down in a darkend room and think quiet hard to find any problems with that!

Obviously there are some perks that come with the dmw tag such as email :-)   a pen and first offer on LANs and tourney events etc......

I think level one peeps should wear their tag AFTER their name as N42 did.  Level 2 & 3 peeps should wear the tag BEFORE their name as we do now.  Not a big difference I know but it will at least identify the match players..... dunno it just seems like a good idea....

we would have a premier team, match team plus the general community to draft in, in emergencies so players for matches should not be an issue

Stryker

in fact on occation (one or twice a month) before a match I'd suggest we pimp a few dmw pcs (level 1) peeps off Meathook to play in a match along side match dmw peeps if they want.  That would be nice for them esp as there may be peeps who have never played match before.... they could get a taste with no commitments

admin chaps, can we keep this thread rolling, perhaps refine/agree on the ideas in hand and then present them to the dMw clan to gauge reactions.

Good idea oldie.

Stryker if we ask peops to have the tag after there names i dont think it would be very well recieved as it would again turn into an us and them...

Also the matchplay and advanced matchplay would this not be the same problem we had with Zombies and Ghosts initially??

This isnt a dig just me looking at it from another angle..there may be no problem but im just im just putting in potential concerns.

As I see it the level 3 players really need to be active members and level 2 players for those who fancy a match now and then (or only have time for one match per week or every other week).

I think we can keep track of the different level members without messing with the tag. Also it should be possible to move between the different levels if necessary.
