It puts things in perspective really. We're quite fortunate in the UK not to generally experience tornadoes, earthquakes, drought etc, certainly not to the extent of other non-european countries.

tornadoes, earthquakes & drought are quite common in the UK, although not on the widespread scale of some areas of the world.

They still have a profound effect on those in their wake.
