kregoron

tonight i asked Gavster not to use the following spray

I did this for two reasons:

1. It contains a limited amount of sexual relations.. which afaik arent allowed in sprays. this one isnt anything special i admit.
2. Tho i still said no, cause when using such spray we might have a newcomer see it and think sprays with sexual are allowed, and when we then start telling him he isnt allowed to use it, he will refer to the he saw.. then it will turn into a discussion which isnt really what admins should spend their time on..
(worst case cenario i know)

Ive made this post so we could discuss it and clarify some consistency within the admin staff, seniors and charlie's..

So correct me if i was wrong not to allow it, and its not that i dont like the spray, she lovely :D but still for the reasons stated.. i might just be following the rules a bit much to the letter at times
feel free if you dont understand my point
And if admins find it usefull they can move it to a more proper section, just posted here to so admins could read to start with

Ps. Side note, i allowed him to use it once for this thread to be made

I was considering saying something when i first saw the spray. I think the seniors can properly vouch for whether this is not allowed or not. Personally it can't really be a ban but i see what you mean Kreg.

DuVeL

I'd just recommend not using it as it might be taken offence.
Then again, Sn00ks I believe had a spray also something similar.

Personally as this particular spray shows nothing more than you can see on a TV advert for a deodorant in the middle of children's TV time then I am not too bothered by it.

/withdraws neck

If it went beyond to nudity then I would make a request to remove the spray and aks them not to use it.  A gentle kick (no ban) would be applied if they ignored my request.

More explicit nudity I would warn not to use the spray and to change it, then kick and ban if my polite request is ignored.

I think Kreg was absolutely right in his perspective, to be aware of the sprays used and their content and this I applaud.  However in this particular case I do not think further action is warranted as it is not more than you see on TV, a magazine or on a billboard every day of the week.

In this case I might have suggested to Gavster that he perhapos explore the possibility of a more original spray, but then I would probably leave it at that and just resort to taking the michael out of him mercilessly for lack of original though and inspiration.  The latter usually gets the avatar changed real quick :norty:

My 2 cents.

:withstupid: It could be seen as sexist but as TL says, that's no more than you can see on your average TV advert.  The 2 sprays I gave the bans for yesterday both contained nudity and the bans were issued after a verbal warnings and a kick.

I did a personal chat message to Gav telling him that someone was questioning his spray (he already knew that as Kreg had been speaking to him) and asking him to refrain from using it on our server. (I hadn't seen it at this point).
He didn't reply so I Presume he missed the message.
I got to see the spray eventually and advised Kreg to do as he has now done, and post a screeny in admin section.
Your replies pretty much echo my thoughts, fairly harmless but could encourage others to spray stronger images. It also makes it more difficult to police the offensive sprayers if borderline sprays are being used.

I agree with this, but it doesn't make some images/commercials less sexist.

Indeed. Very well put.

The difficulty is that an image like that is almost identicial to an image of let's say, for example a member's wife, who is wearing a summer top.  As the line is so blurred at these edges then it is difficult to ban one and not the other.  Hence the suggestion to comment and encourage.  It is far easier to draw the line when a nice picture becomes nudity.

As for sexism I'll pose this question.  Given the possible similarity between the in-game picture and a photo of someone's wife, is a posting a picture of said wife sexist?

My exact thought/reason for asking him to please not use the spray

Jamoe

Never seen the point in sprays, only time I have ever seen them used is to gloat when you've killed someone. Just as bad as spraying the corpse with bullets.

Ban all sprays I say! (or jut turn em off like I do)

Maybe not, but it might still be harmfull, if in this case said poster :narnar: I agree w/ kreg though, when i doubt, politely asking them not to use it is the correct course of action.

excactly, nothing a 16+ hasn't seen before (regarding the age on the box)

Though as much as i like it, it does kinda add anything to the game, it rather spoils it, cuz if your rushing with non dmw´ers there are always persons stopping to admire the vieuw, wich cancells the rush a bit out.
