Would some kind chap give the lfs server a nudge :D

It seems to have gone pop again :lmfao:

Was there anything fishy going on before that?

It seems those hackers can get control of a server and make it for example shut itself down. One AirAttack server admin told they have one heck of a problem with those hackers in demo side.

Hmmm... I had just banned a retard, driving the wrong way down the pit lane into me, plus other general tard stuff.

We went to Redline racing as they were running the same combo, OMG!!! such children they have on there. Not going there again :ranting2:

I have been on those very popular servers: Redline, CTRA and Cone Dodgers. It must be partly because they are so popular that all kind of idiots flock there. When I first time, and so far only time, visited CTRA (STCC at that time) I saw such level behaviour, which I had seen in demo side last time.
So far the friendliest and fairest behaviour I have seen in dMr :D

I really cannot say much more about the hackers, because I haven't seen them myself. I only know what I have heard.

I've started the server again. Seems stable so maybe there is another 'server crash' method knocking about.

Yep. It's malicious. No fix as yet but I'm sure one is in the works.

Look here:

(enter 2 days if viewed after 27 aug)

250 - 300 servers lost at the same time. Can't be attack by hackers. If its hostile its some ISP pulling out the cable for a moment...

According to this thread it is:
Quote from: the_angry_angel;533327Brief connectivity issue between the network the master runs on, and one of the backbones of the rest of the internet... Lovely fun. Exactly who do you try and take that up with? You can't really take it up with the DC as its out of their network (probably / hopefully), and if you take it up with anyone else they'll basically tell you to **** off because you're not an actual customer.

But look here: http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=29815
Also, lfs server exploit(s) are published on (at least one) security site.

OK, I was thinking of only one of the exploits.

I was not aware of the possibility to take out the whole LFS community in one go without the criminal even having to be on a LFS server.

That might be some master server issue. It's just bit odd only half of the servers were lost in the master list. Those servers could be still running, it's just that the master lost them in its list (for any reason). :g:

The master server is not needed after you have connected into a server (afaik), unless maybe for logging the laps. But even if the logging server is out of action, racing can continue otherwise normally (i have seen that). Remember the server crashed or was closed when some of you where already connected. I don't know if it crashed or was closed. For the latter case it was probably a hacker.

Yeah, it has happened again. 200 servers down this afternoon too.

Oh dear. It's just getting worse.

Looking at LFSWorld....

server | players connected / max players | version
----------------------------------------
Phlos is my god | 3300 / 1 | 0.5Y

At least no more guessing who is behind this :ranting2:
