Well, ladies and gentlemen (and you Benny), it's been another highly successful year for Dead Men Walking and it shouldn't go by without giving thanks to those people whose hard work and dedication has kept this community going strong. Even with the pull of different games and, in some cases, different teams we have maintained the terrific sense of community that we've so carefully nurtured over the years. Everybody knows what dMw stands for and all of you should feel immensely proud for helping to maintain our standards of maturity, attitude, teamwork and fairplay. Our community may not be unique within the gaming world but I reckon it's the best and long may it be so. :yahoo:

Last year we changed hosts from Hi-Velocity to Brightstar which meant we had to physically move servers across London. I would like to thank Gandalf and TeaLeaf for all they did in making this move a successful one even though they came up against some difficult obstacles in the process. We also owe a huge debt of thanks to Gandalf for his work in securing a new hosting package for us that has proved to be just the ticket :thumb:

After three years at the helm Whitey stepped down as leader of the 'Folding' team and handed over to Delanvital and Duvel who continue to ensure that our gaming rigs (and any other pos that has a cpu) is put to good use. If you're not folding for dMw - why not?

We have thriving gaming sections that continue to introduce new people to our world of mature gaming. Doorman's 'Live for Speed' section has seen it's membership more than treble over the last year and narrowly missed winning the accolade for providing the 'Friendliest Server' in a poll on the official LFS forum. Well done Doors. You really are quite good :flirty:

I'm embarrassed to say that I am not at all up to speed in the workings of the WOW section so I will have to leave the year's 'accolades due' to TeaLeaf and Bastet.:byebye:

I thinks it's fair to say that TF2 didn't rock our boat as anticipated nor did the continuing Battlefield franchise in the shape of BF2142. But there was a huge success story that does need recognition ...

2007 saw the continued revival of CounterStrike within dMw to the point where I can honestly say it is now as good as it's ever been. And that took hard work. Many people helped in achieving this level and on behalf of the whole community I thank them all but someone deserves a special mention.
In 2006 CounterStrike was seen by many to be on it's last legs. CounterStrike was so 'yesterday'. It had been played to death by all and sundry and any interest in keeping it going was slowly ebbing out of the community. Enter Whitey. He took the bull by the horns and set about restoring its former glory within dMw. I reckon he's achieved that. :yahoo:
Today we see innovations such as 'no entry' signs, admin school, the dMw CS:S Ladder and yet another hugely successful Christmas Tournament. Congratulations on what you've achieved Whitey and many, many thanks for all the time and effort you've selflessly donated.:worship:

Another one of our tireless members we owe a huge debt of thanks to is Blueball. He's our very own 'Duracell Bunny'. He never stops working on behalf of the community whether it's configuring our servers, maintaining our forum or providing answers to forum posters. He's a top man and we're very lucky to have him on board.

So what next for dMw in 2008? CounterStrike shows no sign of slipping in popularity so more of the same there me thinks. LFS is under constant development and every change has, as far as Dead Men Racing is concerned, been positive so no imminent rush to try another sim there. I'm sure WOW will continue to meet the demands of its players. After all, hard earned cash needs to change hands so it has to. We will be reviving BF2 as interest has been shown in doing so. If you have it then get patched to 1.41 and watch this space. This year we will be purchasing a new server for use at the LANs. Our old 'BlackAdder LAN' is showing its age and needs to go out to stud where it will see out its last days folding WUs for dMw.:byebye:

There's no point in having a spinky new LAN server without LANs so we will, of course, be holding these again in 2008. The LANs are great fun and if you've not attended before then you really are missing out on a great weekend's enjoyment. Now then. Talking of the LAN ...

The community is run by volunteers who donate all of their time for free to ensure that we provide our members with the best gaming experience we can. However, we do have to pay for hosting, bandwidth and hardware. These costs are partly met from donations but are mostly met from the profits we generate from LAN attendees. So if you are unable to make it to the LAN then please consider making a small donation to the community fund. This will ensure that we can continue to grow and provide you with the services you currently enjoy. Thanks in advance.

Finally, on behalf of all the 'management', I wish you all the very best for 2008 and thank you for your support in the past and look forward to your continued support in the future.

You can still do that you know :winkiss:

As for 2008, I hope i'll be one of the attendies of the dMw lan's cuz well, i've allready been here for almost 3 years so it would be about time it did, right? :yahoo:

And i'm glad that the cs:s part of this clan is still triving (can't really say about the other parts, cuz i don't play those games), and bringing in new members, wich is great, since well there are alot of games out there that look better, are more flashy and maybe even more fun to play at first. But well, an online game cannot survive without proper servers and  good communities to support/play on it.

So again cheers for keeping up the good work and keeping the community alive and growing. And well, i guess i'll shoot you all out there in 2008 :norty:

:blush2: Thanks OB.

It's been a great team effort to turn CS around and I'd like to thank all of the CS Admins for their help.  Special thanks should go to BlueBall for all his work on the server side, to Sadako for hosting the fast downloads as well as all of the time spent on map testing and Admin school and to Blunt who spends more time as admin on the server than I do in my house .  Big thanks also  go to the whole dMw community who have made this such a great place to play :dmw:

Bring on 2008!

happy newyear to all! and GAME ON!!!

T-Bag

Thanks for all the work that goes into the games and the forum. I kill hours a week checking and rechecking to avoid meaningful browsing. And lets hope it stays that way.
Counterstrike is booming right now, my hope for 2008 is for TF2 to get even 1/4 of that stregth for a couple of games a week. But theres a whole year to discuss that.
Thanks Admins.
