Roadhouse and museum are both big maps. Playing 5v5 on them could be a bit of struggle. Imho I think museum would probably be easier for CT to defend. However, we have played matches on Roadhouse with 5v5 and it has worked.
Another option would be to play on de_supply that we have in our rotation atm. It has many options and look good as well.

The winners vs all other teams are a very interesting idea and I have a map for it! http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/19140

For the 2v2 we could try this pack:

I think this map could be quite fun to try as well.

You could also do a similar take on the 2v2 tournament that place 1+2 form one team and then play against place 3-6(8) i.e. 4 players  vs 8 (12) players.

All look pretty good to me .

I do like the idea of having new maps for the comps which levels the playing fields a bit.

Why not try wanda as the main comp map. Would that work?

I like Deaglemap 2 the best - the outside one.

Poolday would be fun for a bit of Friday night (****ed up actions).

OK, so let's get a few stakes in here then.

Friday
No fixed competitions, but encourage 'drop-in' games:
Soldat, xxx, xxx

Saturday

   CS competitions
Cup Matches : 11:30 Onwards, Final at 1:00   7/8 teams, standard knockout.  should be around 8 matches to give us a table with the Cup Winners at the top.
MAP: Let's keep looking, but current (roadhouse or supply)
Winners/Losers Cup - Directly after cup or early evening?   Top Teams vs Bottom Teams (Need a 32+ player map)
1 MR12 Match for bragging rights.
MAP: Wanda?

Deagle Comp
Sign up on white board, pick you partner and we draw out of a hat to pick matches, you lose, you're out.
BF2 - Server Up and Running all day
Encourage afternoon / evening mass event. Let's get the BIG guys and Lib involved to get some maps, plans sorted.

Sunday
Peel self off carpet and go home.

Other games we need to fit in?
CoD4? Crysis? Others?

Wanda is H U G E. Playing 15 v 15 on that is more like it. I can look around for a new map for the 5 v 5 tournament. I have some maps on my HDD at home that I haven't got around to checking out yet e.g.

Updated with Deagle. Gimme a sticky at the thread begin, then we can discuss in this thread and post to the top sticky as we change it. Plus invite Ranger in here for comment.....

Ranger? He's not coming to the LAN AFAIK (Or certainly hasn't signed up AFAIAA).

I can invite Paddy / Dewey though which may be good as they're bringing along the server for BF2

I'll ask BB to add them as well as Lib & Arm as they're both coming.

Sorry i missed this thread....been a bit busy and such like. We're not planning anything for Friday? The LAN does begin at 10am technically. I know people will be turning up all day but maybe we could arrange something quick and simple for Friday early evening for those who are about. Getting a structure going from the start might help keep the LAN focused. The only problem I think we had last time was everyone seemed to be off doing their own thing. We could run a few TF2 maps or something Friday night and run larger teams? Nothing too structured.

Just a thought

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

sheepy

imo 8 teams (one dummy team)

straight knockout, just a knockout with 8 teams in it will take about 2:30 to run if all goes quickly.

This will be the best way imo

sheepy

all should be totally rasndomly drawn teams this has worked really well over the last 2 lans  and also meens that no on can "rig" teams

Armitage is also keen that we have a 5vs5 BF Comp.

Quote from: ArmitageAs well as the large battles it would be nice to run a 5v5 on the same line as the CS tourney.
Maps are petty standard and we all have our favs, so karkand it is then :)

I think it's doable for Saturday later afternoon.

I'm going to leave the techie stuff about it for others so please chip in.

Smilo,

The issue with Friday is that Friday is usually filled with inanities and people arriving all day. Friday night is out due to Steak Night and socialising in all truth.

I guess we could schedule something for later Friday afternoon though? What would we run (not sure if the BIG fellas are arriving before the evening as before, so it may have to be non-BF2).

Benny

So why don't we make Friday night, TF2 night? it's easy to drop in and out, no long campaign needed etc?

Damn. You guys started without me.

BF2. Competition wise 5v5 is a bit painful 8v8 or 12v12 is a better format.

COD4. recent experiments have show 5-8 to be the most tactical/team orientated way of playing.

Timing wise you guys have much more experience. I havent read every thread yet, but Benny's post about just the CSS tourney seemed to take a week. Just an idea, is it possible to allocate a time period and require teams to challenge and play matches during that time, that leaves detailed organisation to them. Everyone will need top know where they are, a simple LAN website might help there. Easy to do.

Any interest in TF2 action? Damn he mentioned TF2

The most promising game on the horizon is Frontlines Fuel of War. I imagine that will be the most ineterest.

Mods and fun stuff for BF2 should include the Pirates mod. Its hard to say what else might be happening.

Liberator

We'll need a relatively small map for tourney style play, I'm looking over a few I've downloaded to test for AAS compatibility. Possibly a single CP with uncapturable main bases which are out of bounds. Matched with low initial tickets 40 or 50.

Although I've always liked Mashtuur City for its uniform layout and urban warfare, it seems to support nice close fighting without favouring either side. Some good shootouts at the mosque.

Obviously for the large game 64 Karkand is the obvious choice.
