So, gents to kick this into life.

We have the givens

CS - Ongoing and a 2.vs.2 or team event or both
BF2 - slotted times for a big group fight
LFS

Then the wants and periphery games;
CoD4
Some BIG RTS ;) (C&C etc?)
Soldat for me

I know we have a while but I figure we need to;
Pick our games, pick our tourneys, then work out the timings so that we can reasonably expect good turnouts. On the plus side there are no live premiership games on that weekend, so no mass exodus at 12. That said Man U v. the Arse would be a tempter if the Fenlanders have figured out how to screen 3pm kickoffs.

So.....shall we kick off with games, then we can get into a chat about which are of value / popular enough, then iron out the basics / maps / tracks etc.

Thanks Benny - We *do* need to keep on top of this as things do creep up otherwise.

Agree with the comps:

CS  - 5vs5 (or whatever - depending on nos). and 2v2 Deagle comp

BF2 - Big group game is definitely in order on Sat PM

LFS - We don't need to formalise this one. Oldie has suggested leaving it ad hoc and running it at some time over the weekend.

Quote from: OBA race can be organised and ran with very little time needed i.e. five minutes qualifying followed by a 15 minute race - 30 minutes top (ten minutes to prise people out of the bar).
Leave it ad-hoc for now and I'm sure we'll manage to fit something in during the weekend.

The BIG fellas are bringing a server with BF2 and other games, I'll try and find out what they're proposing to play.

Anyone seen the paintball mod for UT? Might be an alternative or extra. It's a free job, I'm happy to burn the CD's. (UT is also free, it's featured in this months PCG)

Nope, not seen it.

Could be a fun diversion so long as we're not fragmenting too much.

so then, timetable.

Friday - no scheduled comps

Saturday - comps normally run from 12pm through to 6pm

How about:
12-2pm - CS:S 5vs5
2.30pm - 4.30pm mass BF2
5pm - 6.30pm  2vs2 Deagle comp (and other games for non-participants etc).

Sat Night - other games scheduled on popularity such
1. Soldat
2. COD 4
etc

These are scheduled on numbers of people wanting to play them?

Thoughts ?

Friday : Nothing Scheduled, but Soldat is good to drop in and out of, easy install and no machine requirements. (Plus it's rewarding when you're pished)

Saturday: If it were up to me I'd start the comps earlier and break for lunch, so maybe 5v5 from 11:00? Is it worth league tabling? From memory 6 -8 teams, I can find some league software, everyone plays each other twice organised by the teams, or probably better is the cup format, play eachother once, winners go through to knockout draw. Server slots on a white board, if you don't play your teams games by Saturday midnight you forfeit those games?

Then people can fit their races, RTS's etc around it......though as per every year it would be good to project the final on a wall...

Sorry, for ramble, boss reading over my shoulder.

Dr Sadako

I am sorry that I haven't participated in this section much. I have much on my mind at the moment with my wife not feeling well. I can try and get hold of the games required but I am not sure how much I can commit to sorting things just now. I will try my best but I can't really promise anything.

NP Mats, I know things are rough for you atm

Don't worry, we can sort it out and then you can just get the glory on the day :lmfao:

Agree with Friday
Agree with starting at 11am providing the lazy sods get out of bed :)
Cup format would be better - otherwise there's too many games imo (plus it's what people expect). However I would run the matches concurrently (two servers) and not give people the chance to slope off otherwise it won't happen. We can have a break between rounds but not hours preferably.
so I think that's all fine.

Anyone wanna draft the schedule / post?   (Otherwise I'll do it)

Sounds good here. Current list is 35. So 7 teams of 5?
A-G

    a    b    c    d    e    f    g
a    x    x
b    11:00    x
c    11:20    11:00    x
d    11:40    11:20    11:00    x
e    12:00    11:40    11:20    11:00    x
f    12:20    12:00    11:40    11:20    11:00    x
g    12:40    12:20    12:00    11:40    11:20    11:00    x

1pt for  a win
Top 2 play each other in final
Bottom 2 play for bragging rights. Losing team has to get the drinks in for the winning team.

League'ish I know....think that works (edit apart from needing 6 servers.....I'll change it, was trying to be keen and help. Give it a day, it'll wear off)
Cup format coming....

1 Pt for a win. Top 2 teams play off.
Bottom 2 teams play off, loser buys the drinks for the winning team

I'm not sure that isn't too many games really.

I would rather have larger teams and less games then vice versa really if possible.

We usually just have a straight knockout which equates to 3 or 4 games. This way there could well be a dozen? I'm not sure we can hold their interest for that long.

What do you think?

Benny

Am inclined to agree. I was living outside the box and thinking blue sky to make sure we were singing from the same hymn sheet. That said....

35 people. 7 teams of 5.

1. 1 plays 2
2. 3 plays 4
3. 5 plays 6
4.   7 watches (unless we can fill it)

1.2 Winners     3.4 Winners
1.2 Losers       3.4 Losers

(1.2w)(3.4w) Winners
(1.2l)(3.4l) Winners

Then I reckon you should mess it up by saying (as a surprise) overall winners vs. overall losers in a winner takes all battle.

I do like the twist at the end :norty:

and what's this "you" business? It's your idea ergo your baby - haha that'll teach you to join in :P

Seriously though by Saturday I'm normally deluged in accounting and getting the fees in so Sheep normally does it ... and Mats is also around so if we can do it collectively ...........

And while we're here, let's sort the maps out. 5v5, unfortunately museum is too big for that imho, but I think the heats should be on roadhouse.

had another idea on the winners. Let's take all the winning teams vs all the losing teams in a big map face off.

I think Museum would be OK really, it's such a popular map atm it would be a shame not to capitalise on it (Although I guess it will be playe4d quite extensively outside of the comps). I agree on Roadhouse as well - and the usual box deagle map unless someone has something better?

Either way I suggest Mats gets involved in this part of the discussion as it's his baby and I'll defer to you guys whatever you decide.
