Server Upgrade Update:

The incompatible RAM was received by Crucial this morning and they are shipping the new RAM direct to Stryker for delivery either tomorrow or Friday.

The case has been ordered as well from //www.pcicase.co.uk - it will be the IPC-C2S 2U for those who are interested, in a rather fetching 'black'.

Hopefully, Stryker & DM will have a chance to install it all sometime soon and we can kiss the hardware lag spikes goodbye for the timebeing.......of course, we still have to deal with the 'net-caused' lag spikes, but then there is nooooo way that I am going to try to fund raise for a whole new backbone 8O

My job is done, I can now retire.........

We will install the new hardware this weekend in the existing homer case (low profile desktop case).

At some time in the near ish future when the new 2u case arrives we'll do that too. You will get advanced notice.

Ok so we have not installed new homer this weekend. It seems it may be the motherboard that is faulty.

We are working at getting it replaced.

Mobo has been returned to the retailer as suspected faulty. We await the replacement - hopefully sometime this week.

Dabs received our returned mobo some time ago and have found it within themselves to test the mobo on 29th August. So much for fast internet service

If the mobo is tested as faulty they will replace it, if the mobo is tested as working they will return it to us.

The long and the short being that you shouldn't expect to see the new server being installed for at least 2 weeks (allowing time for them to return the mobo to us).

Final point, if the mobo works fine then it may be the CPU. But I'm hoping that the mobo will be the culprit......

Keep yer fingers crossed - Dabs test our motherboard today. What we want is a nice 'It was faulty Sir' response from them cos that'll explain the probs we've had trying to install the stuff. We'll let you knwo what they say when we hear back from them.......

Good new & Bad News folks.....

The mobo was received back by Stryker - the CPU/Mobo/RAM combo still doesn't work.

The good news is that we can now officially blame the CPU. I will be organising a return asap for checking.
