I'm of the opinion that it doesn't make any difference in this instance. It's not as if handling preference is an issue. Maybe something from Inferno will suffice.

Seany

tried Race_S yesterday. The only difference is its a tad slower, I don't think it will be a problem.

Doorman

Fair enough. We'll stick with the usual format then.

I was thinking maybe the blue flagged rule should be bit relaxed in the long race. So that even if you are lap(s) down you can overtake someone lap(s) ahead.

The reason being that even if you just take a quick pit stop everybody else laps you. Person who is lap down at some point can still be realisticly racing for the win. Besides it might keep the race more interesting as the only fun is slipstreaming and having close racing.

Aquilifer

Silence means usually 'yes'. So I guess it is agreed then. :)

Really it wouldn't make sense otherwise if one pit stop takes longer than one lap. It still means no dirty tricks and not keeping a faster guy behind unfairly if he is lapping ...of course. Just that you are allowed to unlap yourself. Right (?)

(I mean it must be a pretty normal situation that there is a few laps difference between leader and 2nd place in oval races in real life too. Depending what the pit stop situation is.)

EDIT: Don't forget to refuel twice in the race or you won't make it.

Doorman

No argument from me. :)

Also ... please do not try to defend your position when being drafted. No point. Always overtake on the inside ... always leave room for overtaking on the inside.

The Oval has been done! It is dead, There will be no more oval....ever. The funniest thing about tonights race was that after the first 8-10 laps we were having a conversation about love, life and whether 'they' will see sense and cancel the Olympics!

Apart from that, well done Bryn.

Since I'm here I can aswell whine my story :)

My qual time was damn good. Now idea how I got that one as I hadn't done even 31.6x before.

Because I was starting from the 2nd place I feared people starting behind me ram me as my start were quite pathetic with TC. So I tryed to get as good start as possible and of course I was too fast. :sideways:

It is impossible to catch anybody unless they crash. The lap times are so close the same. So I was just cruising the race. Bloody boring.

So I put a brick on the throttle and relaxed by watching the football. Actually I can remember the match better than the race...not even sure if I messsed the start in this race or some of the short ones :g:

The short races had been quite fun sometimes if had an oportunity race in a group but this was not.

Congrats to Bryn and all who didn't fall asleep. :)

I know this was not really a popular combo but I saw it as one of my few chances of a podium.  After putting in over a 1000 laps of mind-numbing practice I managed to build a fast set & find a good line.  Sundays's team racing confirmed that I might do well.
I qualified 4th & got an excellent start, managed to swap about in the first four places for a few laps before Seany & I started drafting to pull out in front.  I eventually started to leave him behind - due to having less fuel I think - & was able to build up a gap.  I has decided on three equal fuel loads & was one of the first to pit, coming out in 6th but regaining 1st after everyone else has pitted..  The rest of the race was just hotlapping, a few passes, some scary moments when the backend stepped out in the final turn, another round of pitstops & trying to maintain concentration.  Nobody can be more gobsmacked than me that I won.  That won't happen often, if ever again :D.
I am honoured to be invited to join the team, you're a great bunch of guys & I will try to live up to your standards.  Many thanks.
Back to normal at the back next week.

Well done Scratchy on your victory.
Well its over and done with and there were a few positives for me.
1) I finished :)
2) Claimed pole position :D
3) Set a time of 31.500 which was a tenth off the WR (undrafted may I add) :yahoo:

On the negative side, I made an error in setup selection. I decided at the last minute to go with my quali setup instead of the one I had used all week (Boogles). Boogles was a tad slower but was at least stable on the final turn and I lost grip completely at the rear several times. It happened most often when I was racing with Doorz and gave him a few moments to check the dickie-ticker.
Near the end I was doing some rapid calculations on fuel, hoping that I could make it on one tank refill, but it was not to be.
Over all, I cant say it was enjoyable, as there were long periods of non-racing just ploding round the circuit.
Thank God for the UF1 and some real racing. :byebye:

OldBloke

I managed 2nd place by ...

1. Sticking with Boogle's setup which was stable and didn't eat tyres.:thumb:
2. Being extra careful on pit entry/exit.
3. Calculating fuel carefully - I ran with 50/80/80 :learn:

The low fuel load at the beginning gave me a slight advantage over some others running heavier loads and, if I got the draft timed perfectly, meant that I was past and gone.

Too boring a combo for me though and I won't be keen to see it used again.

Nice result for Bryn who did his homework and saw it pay off.

I have no idea what the heck I had been summing. I thought I had calcualting it right by deciding to go with 77/77/77. For the 2nd stop I realised I was going to have too much fuel and reduced the last load to 70%, but I still had 30% at the tank in the end

I think I overestimated the increase in fuel comsumption with heavier fuel load. At least it made me slower, because getting under 32.0 was hard immediately after each pit stop.

No problems with tyres. I had put R4 for both front and rear and max pressure. That was a tiny bit was faster than R3 at the other end and also lasted better. So I used the same set both qual and the race. And my qual time 31.57 was not a draft time either. But interestingly I felt much slower in race even before the stops when the tank was nearly empty.

Seany

bit disappointing for me, but thats racing .

Scratchy got a really nice start and I managed to keep with him for a lap or two but then I missed his draft and couldn't get back.  Each lap his car got smaller and smaller :) , as you mentioned Scratchy, I reckon it was because of the fuel.  My strategy was start with 100, stop at lap 50 take another 100 then stop between lap 80-90 and fill the tank back up.

I had some nice drafting sessions with Andy though, through out the race.  But it all got buggered at the second pit stop.  I'm going to blame my wheel :D. I slowed down enough, hit the limiter and picked up the throttle. But the button press registered as two pushes, so it turned off the limiter straight away.  Then to add insult to injury it happened again on my drive through :taz: . Thats the last time I can blame my hardware though, as my G25 arrived today :woot2:

Congrats to Scratchy, put the head down and drove a flawless race, well done to you and the podium takers.

I actually enjoyed this weeks racing.  I'm glad I got to drive this combo with you guys, its not exactly enjoyable on other servers, but with you it was all the thrills with none of the (numpty) spills :D .  Don't mind if we never do it again, not unless they release a car faster than the BF1
