Gentlemen, I present to you for your deliberation, cogitation and general opinionation (?), the phenominoms that are PCS and Enemydown (and all other competitive matches and friendlies)

or put another way

While championing and adhering to the fairly strict rules of engagement etc. of the pcs game, is it then possible to successfully understand and implement relevant stratagies against a bunch of fragwhoring supersharpshootershootingshots at our heads ? (and giving sore batty's to all in their way)

(slightly different from above i know, but hey what the hell you get the drift)

No ?

well maybe a discussion and some possible solutions?

                               -=[dMw]=-

I'll start cos i'm here now, Would it be a good idea to sort out a time to play as the clans we face in competitive matches play ie:sneak round the back and shoot them from behind etc.
Invite people on to play, uktmf for example or victims from joe public land to fill up MeatHook™ against a dmw team just to remind ourselves how different pcs is from public playin clans and keep our hands in.
AWP usage is another biggie, we never use them and until another clan starts shooting us we kinda forget. but to be any good you gotta use them where you practise... (guess whats coming) ...Meathook !.
Please don't get me wrong i am in no way dissing meathook or admins and im also not suggesting we turn mh into a public either, but practise we must to compete ! just on 1 selected night and see how it goes

i just thought some discussion and team input on this might help. cos now we playin wid de big boys and getting owned isnt fun (well not every match!!).

Sounds like a plan. But if you're gonna open up a server for 'public whore mongering' then why not HG? At least then the other MH regulars can play as MH is meant to be played. (I'm sure this point has been made before somewhere!)

As for getting the public to play.... that's a tough one. To build up a regular bunch of people, you need the server to be available at all times. Not an ideal solution, as we would loose a server to play on but would retain control.

Another option is to arrange a mutually convenient time to play on some public servers. ie, jolt. I used to play on them before joining deadmen and there are some good, friendly players who frequent them. But on the same note, there are also some complete a$$ monkeys!

How about turning this into a vote FB?

i get what youre saying regarding jolt etc. only thing is we need to play as a team, which can be a pain on publics people swapping sides etc.  i think that HG sounds like an option, perhaps before a match we just play the relevant map with the team whos going to play against invited clientele/anybody else, far too often now we dont even practise a map were about to play  in a competitionand as we bin finding out                no preparation = good hard batty raping
this is all on a competitive basis perhaps we should look to drop down a division, after all the reason we all got into this game in the first place was cos it was fun and also alot of us have time constraints/bitcing wifes/moaning kids (delete as applicable) or another option would be to find more pcs clans to play against therfore playing to our strengths !! idea's on a postcstcard or back of a fiver.

Good points FB. But aren't we just getting back to the problem of needing to have proper practice sessions?

It doesn't make sense (IMHO) to just say e.g. 'Every Tuesday is non-PCS day on the Meat Hook' as this won't necessarily improve our team tactics.

There are a few things to bear in mind.

1. Enemy Down - We are in too high with our current skill/tactic level. We will get more enjoyable games when we find our appropriate level.

2. Most clans we play against recruit on proven ability and play purely to win.

3. We are a PCS clan that plays in non-PCS matches. :?

So. This is a heavy bit. What sort of clan do you want dMw to be?

If you want the clan to be able to compete with the type of clan that occupies the top five places in ED then it would require a major overhaul of clan ethos. With all due respect, our current membership will never achieve the skill levels necessary to reach that target. We would therefore need to attract a number of highly skilled players that in turn would mean that we, with a couple of exceptions, wouldn't get a game anyway. :(  If this route was chosen then it would open up the opportunity to have a two-tier clan. We would have an 'A Team' picked purely on ability and a second tier of players (like myself) who just enjoy playing as part of a team (successful or otherwise). This could also be achieved by merging with an existing clan that has the skill but would relish the facilities offered by Doggers and Stryker.

If you are fairly content with things as they are but would like to be able to compete better in matches then the only answer is practice. We've had a poll to determine the best night to do this and 'Tuesday' was the clear winner. I know that this means that Gandalf won't be there but I think we've got to go for it (sorry Gandy). I will take it upon myself to organise this.

As for individual and weapon skills then, for as long as Doggers says we are a PCS clan, apart from clan practice sessions it's up to each member to play on public servers to hone those skills.

My only real gripe is the sparcity of punters who have taken up PCS registration. It would be cool to see the Meat Hook regularly bursting at the seams with like-minded players. Maybe some additional pimpage is necessary.

So that's my personal ramblings. As always, the management rests with Doggers.

Excellent points oldie.

It is a shame about Tuesday, I'll see if I can make every other Tuesday or every third. I'll need to re-schedule a few things but it may be able to be done. Also, when you do practice please record a demo and mail it to me (or a link to it!) And I'll then be able to review it and offer some pointers without being there to play!

Also, with regards to the taccy site, sorry about the lack of updates as I said before, loads of work going on at my mothers new house... but it is nearly finished (for now!) so in a few weeks I will have some time available to throw at the site.

And additional pimpage would be great, many a time I've been on there when no-one else is around! I have a friend who I think would suit our kind of play, but he uses the same connection as me, so the IP address will be the same. (I live in a building converted to flats and his mother owns them! So I've shared my adsl connection out to their flat, will this cause a problem? If not I'll point him in the direction of the rules and signup form)

Thanks for being understanding G.

Don't think you'll have a problem sharing your ADSL. After all, Frenzy and me are sharing a cable modem. Depending on how your router handles it you may have to set different client ports for HL. With my LinkSys I don't have to do this but I did with an earlier Netgear model.

agreed! killer $64000 question i still think we can be both but not in the enemydown ladder premier league. as for using our own time to play on publics i don't have any! the time i have available i always go to mh even if theres only 3 of us playin. the reason for this is to try and practice with teammates cos since the weds night praccys have finished we've all been wingin it a bit as far as competitive matches go. against some of the lesser ed clans we've done well but then if i say porn or 12k anyone who played in those games will know what i mean(cold shudder)
Are there any more pcs clans around because to this day two of the best matches i've played in were the matches against N42 !!.

well, lets get some more N42 matches arranged!  :D

First off, I think going down the "play-to-win" route is a very, very bad idea. People who take Counter-Strike too seriosuly piss me off :|

Secondly, if we're to raise awareness of PCS, then it would help to have a proper URL to direct people to. I know theres a rules page, but how about having it under an easy to remember URL, deadmen.co.uk/pcs for example.

One more thing, instead of having a signup button right at the top, how about moving it to the bottom, so people are encouraged to actually read the PCS rules :)

My plan for Tuesday night praccies...

1. We find a partner clan to play against.
2. We get all members of partner clan to sign up to this forum.
3. I create a private forum for dMw/partner eyes only.
4. Both clans meet up in #deadmen at 8pm.
5. The MH passy is changed and announced in private forum.
6. HLTV is started on the MH and a demo recording started.
7. Six members from each clan enter server.
8. Non-playing members connect to HLTV and record demos.

Pre-game:

Map to be played agreed by both clans.

In-game:

Any player can call 'TIMEOUT' at which point play stops. This time can be used to discuss tactic changes etc.

Post-game:

A post mortem making use of private forum for players/spectators to comment on tactics etc. Demos to be made available to all.

--------------------

To get the ball rolling I've invited our good friends from UK-TMF to be the partner clan. I'm waiting to hear whether they've accepted or not.

Does this sound OK? Any comments?

Just one concern for me oldie, why 6 as we have on good nights 10 and if it is going to be made official that tuesday night is praccy night most people will turn up.

Also UK-TMF have more than 6 in there clan.
The only reason i say this is that for me i enjoy playing the game not Necessarily watching it as im not much of a tactician (cannon fodder)

How about however many TMF guys turn up we play the same? and rotate people for different times or maps. This is all dependant on however many turn up on either side.

Also what are the implications of if one team is short someone swapping over to even the sides?

FatBob

:D Another Nice One  Oldie  :D
and i hope tmf are up for it as well, top clan and after meeting 3 fine upstanding drunken members at the lan they are top of my list too !.
hear what ya sayin tut, but underneath we all got a competitive spirit, thats part of the huge appeal of this game for me and others i'm sure, however i prefer to think of it as play to compete rather than play to win
Still havn't recieved any fivers but the postcards are flooding in !
and by the looks of it the juices are flowing
tuesday now looking up,  i agree with smitey that we could could use the odd swap to even sides, if the swapee was willing to follow their orders and play as part of the team and also we could fit on more than 6, that way if we have a match night no need to explain taccies should a team member drop for any reason at the last minute . we all be multitasking little frag monkeys!!!.
some suggestions on the time out i reckon we limit the time outs to 3 per clan per map and have a rough 2 minutes timelimit otherwise we break the very essence (..mmm dramatic... great ..nice...) of cs (...grrr sexy) comments, dissection etc. can then be discussed via hltv and irc .
Also with DM's blessing i think we should play competition rules ie: no weapon bans, no taboo map areas and either MR 10/12  or CO rules swap and change practice on both would be good.
if we have say 8-10 per team people we could perhaps try 2 man/woman squads (esp as ct to coordinate defences of the two bomb sites) maybe try some different people as squadleaders, to tell some of us grunts what to do!!
I'll stop now !! and go and play with de wikkle white  wabbits
..mmmm bunnies
FB

How can you practice for 6v6 matches with more than 6 players per side?

As for UK-TMF. I'm still waiting to hear from Archer if our proposal is acceptable.
