An excellent overview of iRacing can be found here.

That sounds rather tempting.

So now I am curious.

Who of the dMr's is going to try it?

I know its not up to everyones standards yet. I wish it where. But I cant help feeling that every time I drive LFS now, there is something missing. So its pretty even in my book.

Also I would like to hear from Doorman and EarlHaz about their feelings.

Doorman

Doorman reporting. I'm competly won over. As much as it grieves me to say so, LFS seems...lacking. I don't know if it's because I've driven LFS every night since the dawn of time but after iRacing it feels less 'grounded'
I often said to anyone who'd listen, that if someone came up with a cross between LFS and NetKar pro they'de be on a winner. iRacing doesn't quite do it but it's petty damned close!
Where they do score is the way they've tackled the idiots we in dMr have largely got rid of. I have never seen an incident of deliberate wrecking or the usual moronic LFS behaviour on iRacing...yet. :)

I agree. It is close. But I still feel its not the "final" sim. Not yet at least.

Some of you know that I was deeply in love with NetKar. But as we got to know each other she had to many faults so she had to go. Now if the next version is behaving good, and we get a few tin tops or at least not open wheelers, I might be tempted to try it.

But then I will miss the iRacing system with constantly matching of drivers. When you are out of Rookie it is hard not to get a good race with this system.
In LFS I get a good race with good racing at my level 3 out of 10 times. In iRacing it is the other way round. 3 out of 10 is without close racing.
And thats what its all about, racing. Not hotlapping several seconds from the  next guy. This is what iRacing has for you. Regardless of how fast you are. Just drive as dMr's do. Safe and to your limit, and you will love it.

BigFatCat

I like some of the idea of it, but I'm finding a severe block in the subscription aspect. I know that it's not new and WoW uses it, but I'm just not keen.

There seems to be no-offline demo available to try it out without having to commit. I don't know, it just appears a bit too meh for some reason.

Being a cheapskate of course.

If you did, watch it again...:)

Gnomie

For those who might want to try out iRacing, there's some free one-month subscription thingies floating about these days. Gives you the basic content + the Radical car + Silverstone. :)

Go here to get yours! No strings attached.

Mille Sabords

Tried that and got no answer apart from the automated one :)

That's weird.. I got a reply after 24 hours from an iRacing staff member informing me that it's only applicable to new subscribers. :g: I recommend you try again!
