These are truly shocking.

My eldest lad is starting year 4 of his degree and has just moved out of a house.
I went in to plaster some small holes in the wall that appeared when the posters came down, and I thought the place was a bit untidy, but acceptable.
The witch of a landlady (who didn't fix any of the problems they've had in a year) charged them £25 for a new toilet seat to replace the broken 1. I wish I'd spent a fiver on a cheapy from B&Q.:ranting2:

I'm appalled, but not that shocked to be honest. When I was a student sharing with 3 or 4 others (and now i'm renting 'real person' digs with just the missus) I always kept the place clean and tidy, and often we left it in a state better than that we found it in, having cleaned the oven and such before moving out that blatantly hadn't been done for years when we moved in. I did, however, have various friends that I knew, got on fine with, was happy to have over to mine becuase their *personal* hygiene was OK, but I refused to go round to their houses becuase I couldn't bring myself to sit anywhere or touch anything becuase of the state the place was kept in. Every surface felt tacky, the floors were covered in grit and crumbs and rubbish, there was mould everywhere, rotting food stinking the place up, toilet not cleaned often enough etc etc. I just don't understand how some people can bear to live like that.

That's disgraceful, a dead mouse? A Bonzai tree in a Wok could be quite appealing if well, you keep the tree alive. :doh:

It's amazing what people can will do to themselves simply because they can't be arsed. If I end up with house mates like that while I'm at uni, someone's going to get injured.

I have to admit that our digs weren't much better.

Foolishly I thought that by living with 5 girls they would be vaguely domesticated. Not only was that not true, but it invariably took several hours to get to use the bathroom.

When the census came around in 2000, I filled in the spot as number One. The rest then had to fill out the form. One of the questions was 'Relationship to person at number one'. They dutifully put: Lover -Monday night, Lover - Tuesday night, Lover - Wednesday night, Lover - Thursday night and Lover-Friday night...... it's tough work but it meant I got the weekends off.

I'm sure I'm on a Govt list somewhere as a polygamist or something
