...should I give up my Monday night to play on a server where nobody can be bothered to use voice comms! Despite trying several times to get people to talk to try to help each other I eventually left in disgust.

Also VC's are handy when you want to toss in a flash or stun to clear the room.
Nothing worse then going in and then get stunned/flashed by a teamm8 and get shot by the opponents.

all I have is my Laptop until I either

1) get back with the wife

2) break in to old house and steal gaming rig (risk of loss of life)

3) spend petrol money on gaming rig..

4) bore you with crackly comms from laptop..

Sorry but I am working on it
Are you going to come quietly, or do I have to use earplugs?

Was working later on, I know it's been said before, lower numbers is more comms for some reason.

4 a side and there was some limited comms working fairly well, especially on the S&D maps.

BB you left on a 6v6 HQ. the worst combo for voice comms, due to people spawning at different time.

but the comms got better as the night went on

Penfold

I joined quite late - after BB had left and certainly in the last 45 mins there was pretty good voice comms going down.

I still think part of the problem is the in-game comms just not being on a par with CS. That said, I much prefer them and if we keep doing it then hopefully others will too.

Consistency seems to be a problem for me. One night my comms are fine and the next they're quiet - with nothing changed. All very strange.

Are my comms loud / clear enough?

ohh...and what Benny Said!

Apparently I actually exist! Or maybe it was the drink?

Comms use does seem a depend alot on map and who is on your team.

S&D naturaly tends to have the most comm use, but feels too CS for my liking. We need to get people into the teamwork frame of mind in the other gamemodes.

But saying that sometimes it does seem like no one can hear you speak.

I'll use comms if it's useful and I know where I am.
atm all these maps are v. new to me, so shouting "there's loads at the thingy" is not very helpful, so I tend to keep shtum.
after the last few evenings on CSS, the lack of comms chatter is a blessed relief:sideways:

:D

the lack of a radar is also a factor, eg. I'm hiding, hear footsteps, don't know where I am, so can't ask " is that you there?"

it's pretty realistic though, you don't have a radar in RL do you?

Jewelz^

also lack of radar i would blame for most of my TK's.. Also team models look near enough the same! :eyebrow:

Lexander

It is hard to use comms in some maps as they are fast "deathmatch" maps, so atleast I die every 10 secs. And as I don't know your voices yet it is hard to know who said what, but that will get better in time. And also as I'm fairly new to the game so I tend to keep quiet and learn, but I will try my best to use comms (The quiet Finn).
On a side note it would be cool to be able assign people into 2 or 3 man squads who use their own comms so you could make controlled attacks :)

Liberator

Comms were quiet when I joined, but it was on a domination map and my usual practice on those is.

1. Where the hell have I spawned.
2. Is there anyone around dangerous.
3. Yes there is, how long till I respawn.
4. repeat until map over.

You don't get much time to think and 3 target sites makes for confusing comms even if they are labeled A, B and C because you could spawn anywhere. Only when you have 2 or all 3 of the sites do the VC's tend to get used as you have a common goal.

Later on when we got into some of the more 'single goal' maps its easier to make calls as you pretty much know that everyone on your side is going for the same spot. This is when VC's kick off.

As for radar, I quite like not having it. It should mean that VC's are used more for positioning information and it's something we have to develop.

Good games had all round last night, and I got my P90 and a silencer for my G3. :yahoo:
