Dr Sadako

I guess it was just a matter of time. Me and my son have chickenpox. I have somehow managed to elude chickenpox for almost 35 years. Fortunately I found out early that I have it and have been ordinated some state of the art anti-viral medicine that I have to take every 4 (!) hours for a week. :sideways: The doctor had me walk in the side entrane to the hospital to avoid contact with anyone. She was suited up for the ebola virus I tell you. :g:They were seriously concerned as it is quite dangerous to get it at "high age". I was ordered to call in if it became any worse as it could be fatal if it goes by unwatched.

So now I am on pills that look small (if you are an elephant) and could make me hallucinate. What can I say, bring on the dancing midgets ... it is Friday after all.

I have heard it can be bad in later life so you be careful mate and don't scratch.
I remember as a kid my mother took us around to her friends who's children had chickenpox
so we would all get it at the same time and get it over with.

It all went well apart from my younger brother who got it bad in his mouth and throat..

Get well soon, Mats.

I got it when I was 28 - doc just said stay at home until it starts to scab over at which point you are no longer contagious.

Mind you we don't have witch doctors nowadays.

Me too. The kid up the street got it and every other kid in the area traipsed through their house. Don't get that kind of neighbourliness any more! :D

Yeh, I figured as much. I guess they just want to be on the safe side i.e. making sure no blame can fall on them.

OB ... that was low ... :roflmao:

Ah the good old days when people would give you contagious diseases and you were grateful:flirty:

I got it at 28 too.
Spots everywhere, and I really do mean everywhere!
My Dr told me that the spots are right throughout your body, like the currents in a bun, in your liver, lungs, heart etc.

no wonder I felt like crap!

After the weepy spotty bit, when I'd scabbed up and was no longer feeling quite so bad, in fact, for 5 mins I completely forgot I was Ill, I was sat at home and the doorbell went. I answered it completely forgetting what a sight I looked and frightened the life out of the wifes mate.

edit: hope you're not too itchy Mats

Unlucky Doc, I had my first brush with it on the dMw Amsterdam trip earlier this year at the ripe old age of 41.

Be real careful how you sleep when you are scabbed up, just by sleeping on my usual 2 pillows with a bit of rolling around in the night was knocking them lil beauties off all over the place and now i have quite a few scars on my face .

Bio Oil http://www.auravita.com/products/aura/keyl10798.asp is some wonderful stuff to use on your skin after all the scabs have gone. Its really helping the healing process for me.

Good luck Mats it will feel better after about 3-4 days once the damn itching stops.

Get well soon mate. Be sure to relax a lot!

Every 4 Hours? Bit extreme. Anyway, get well soon, and don't scratch.

I'm pretty sure Thulsa had it a few years ago and he's no spring chicken either:flirty:

I hope the itching isn't too bad and you start to feel better soon.

Thulsa Doom

Yup.
I got the poxy chickens 5yrs ago from my kids.
Me and son got it baddish, wife had a plook and daughter breezed through it.
Damn them!

Worst think I found was not being able to shave the couple weeks of stubble, which was itchy to the point of contemplating peeling my skin off.

Lee

I can't remember what it was like when I had it as a kid, although I think there's a picture around of me with my shirt of looking a bit unhappy. :g:

Hope it clears up soon for you!

Got it when I was 15 or so. Probably infected everyone at my school with it as well. I was convinced that they were flea bites from letting the cat sleep on my bed (something my parents always used to berate me for doing and say i'd get fleas off her), so I hid it from my parents ('luckily' for me I was a spotty teen, so the few that were on my face didn't show) until it got just too damn itchy. Mum took one look and just said "That's not fleas" in an ominous tone. She nursed me and my bro and sis through it, and has never caught it herself. Hopefully she'll never get it now, as she's over 60.
